⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Wheatsheaf is hands-down one of the best pubs around! The food is absolutely amazing and fantastic value for money. There’s a superb selection of beers and spirits, including two ever-changing guest ale lines, and brilliant deals on cocktails and spirits.

I love that it’s split into three sections – a relaxed, restaurant-style area for chilled meals, the main bar with a more traditional pub feel, and a lively pool and darts section with a cosy little courtyard garden. Even the loos are beautifully decorated, with thoughtful extras like feminine products provided – a really nice touch.

The staff are a huge part of what makes this place special – Nathan, Charlie, Vicki, Rio, Kirsty, and Megan are all friendly and welcoming, and landlord Paul is a top bloke who even hosts karaoke every Saturday. The landlady Tan is warm, down-to-earth, and makes everyone feel right at home.

All in all, The Wheatsheaf is a true gem – great food, great drinks, great people. Can’t recommend it highly enough!

Wanted to come in for a drink during the Euros. I’m 20 years old, the barmaid took my ID and said it was fake. I showed her my bank card, uni ID, picture of my passport, and pub groupchat to prove otherwise. I asked to see the landlady and she was incredibly rude and hostile, she claimed that i was “all over pub groupchats” and my “name, face, and ID” was spread around and that nobody would let me in anywhere. I knew this wasn’t true as I’d never lent anyone my ID in my life so was impossible for any of this to have ever happened. She refused to give it back and said even if I brought her my passport I couldn’t have it. I left and asked a few other pub bouncers if this information was true. They said that all that’s happened is an image of another blonde girl had gone around to the pubs to say she was using fake IDs, but she “didn’t really look like” me. So I found some police officers and explained the situation, they went and got my drivers licence back for me 1 hour later and thought the situation was ridiculous. Last weekend ate in there to start a night out. I had one of the world cup burger specials (French one - before the quarters were known!). Two friends both had standard menu cheese and bacon burger. All 3 of us agreed was delicious burgers and all left very happy, (and full! it does say on menu but one of them didn't realise they were double burgers).

Definitely 5* food, and even though my first visit to bar took far too long to be served, rest of service was good too.

4* normally, but that burger gives them full marks. Next time I'm in area will be trying again - really hope want a one-off and have to...
