I have A LOT of food allergies & went and explained this to them, and they were so lovely and friendly! I had the allergy menu brought, and I explained Iโd looked online so had an idea of what I could eat. In other places Iโve had sighs, eye rolls and looks of terror (instils so much confidence in me when they do!) and here they smiled and just got on with it and were like โoh my goodness that is a lot!โ Which actually makes a huge difference. Their understanding was really refreshing, and I didnโt feel inhuman as I sometimes have in other places.
The food itself - pizza - was amazing. It was yummy and not overpriced for the quality, we had the upstairs booked for a sports meeting and so was a bit quieter but atmosphere downstairs was good too.
Glad to have found somewhere to add to my โsafeโ list of food places where I felt confident to eat & able to have something without being worried like a...
ย ย ย Read moreThe Dodo Pub Company have turned this place around for the better. Previously The Sudley Arms, it went through many landlords and companies, periodically opening and closing but it feels like The A&G is here to stay. It's been fully renovated to a good standard, with a hipster feel, but don't let that out you off, it's not pompous. The staff are really friendly, surprisingly for Cheltneham.
Food wise they mainly serve pizza's and sides, which are not cheap but good value for money. You have to try them, they are excellent, romano base style. Beer is very tasty but on the expensive side, which is surprising for a free house. The Jolly Brewster is easily on average ยฃ1.50 a pint cheaper and on par as a pub if not better.
All in all a great pub, well worth a visit.
P.S. Bring back the tater tots! They are perfect accompaniment...

The guy at the bar was so knowledgeable about the food and drinks the pub served and recommended me the best pizzas - we were only going to have one but decided on two - as we could take away what we didn't eat. The cheese/ mushroom and truffle pizza was up there with the best I've ever had- and I'm a pizza snob. The tomato based pizza was superb too as was the red wine which was also recommended by the barman. Superb quality and exceptional value for money. Can't wait to...
