We visited for my partner's birthday and were blown away. We don't normally do posh meals out so this was an exceptional treat for us. Upon arrival we were greeted at the exit to the lift and our coats were taken before we got to choose where we sat. It was a quiet night so we were worried that it might have all gone too quickly but they were brilliant at timing everything so we didn't feel like things were rushed. The food itself was impeccable, everything was cooked to perfection and they made everything in house which made it all even better because it was so fresh. While it is expensive we felt it was worth it and both left feeling that this was one of the best meals we've ever had. The atmosphere was also really lovely, while it is a posh restaurant it didn't feel pretentious and just generally felt very relaxed. Will definitely return and highly recommend.

Went there for dinner for my birthday and was a bit disappointed about the overall experience. I think the staff is nice in general, but for a restaurant like this, I would expect the staff to be more attentive and to focus more on the details. For example, we ordered still water but got served tap water. For the food, the taste for the starter and main is good but the layout can be improved. We didn’t enjoy our dessert at all. It doesn’t look or taste good, which hugely impacted our dining experience. Actually the two tables next to us didn’t even order any dessert at all after checking the dessert menu. I’d say dessert is definitely something they need to look into. We would still go back as they have a great view, especially in summer. But we’ll probably just go there for drinks or brunch. Hopefully the service will be improved before our next visit.

We went here on a Saturday night and really enjoyed ourselves. My partner had the halibut which she said was fantastic and beautifully cooked. I have the beef shin and treacle tart (less of a tart more beef bourginon with mash on top) which was nice. I would recommend the fries with truffle and Parmesan - they are unreal. If you are looking for somewhere with good value food, this is not the place, there are undoubtedly costs for the views and sophistication of the place. If you want to go somewhere with a fantastic atmosphere (great live pianist), swanky decor, excellent and friendly staff and great cocktails then I’d highly recommend. Great for a special occasion as feels a bit special

We booked for breakfast online purchasing a voucher which included a fry up, drinks and pastries explaining we were visiting for my birthday. We called prior to arrival to confirm we were running 5 minutes late and they said they had no booking for us. After a long conversation they confirmed a table would be available a little later (around 1 hour) so we waited and made our way there then. On arrival there was no reservation we were instructed to go to the bar area which had no available seats to wait, while they seated another group of customers. After waiting at the bar for around 15 minutes we were shoved in a corner. Noone offered to take our jackets and they proceeded to ignore us seated here for a further 15 minutes, when we eventually got someone's attention we requested some water and confirmed the details of the voucher we had paid for online which they said was not available. The lady went to speak to someone after we pressed that this is what we had purchased, and around 15 minutes later confirmed it would be fine and they would honour what we had paid for. Still no water had come to the table. We reminded them of this and ordered coffees and cooked breakfasts. Immediately after she left the manager came over and apologised for the mix up. Then our hour and 15 minute wait for a cooked breakfast commenced. We tried to get the attention of staff a few times to order more drinks as they attentively filled glasses for other customers that had purchased bottles of wine or champagne with breakfast with no success. We were brought no pastries despite the manager assuring us that there were a small number that had been made that morning which would enable them to honour the voucher we had purchased. I raised on at least two occasions that I was unhappy with the service and had no apology or resolution offered. When the food eventually arrived we ate it quickly, although it was not great, some areas overcooked (meat) and some undercooked (vegetarian sausages and eggs) and swiftly made our way to leave. We confirmed we were going and recieved the swiftest service experienced during our visit when presented with the bill, which charged us for our drinks which should have been included in the voucher, a top up for the fry up, which was included in our voucher and a tip! We explained the situation again - it now being the third or fourth time we discussed this and were then presented with another bill for just the drinks. We explained again they were included, and when pressed paid the additional money for the drinks so we could leave. As we departed the host asked how we enjoyed our visit. To note this is the first time we were asked. I explained that it was the worst birthday I could have had, not only was the reservation delayed, the service was awful, food was bad and we were completely ignored. It was really disappointing after having an enjoyable time here previously when visiting with my dad and I can't help but question whether they judged us as unworthy of service because we were two women in comfy clothes. The host offered us a glass of prosecco at this stage and we explained we were already going to miss the first race for the day as a result of the awful experience here after which she said we could take it to go and we explained it was far too late and we were far too delayed. I understand that this was race week however the service is unacceptable, particularly given that those that were ready for departing for the races were given preferential treatment. Treating a regular visitor of your restaurant in this manner is appalling, particularly on their birthday. I had waited to post this review anticipating some form of follow up would take place after our discussion with the host on departure but no such follow up has taken place. I highly reccomend avoiding this place at all costs, particularly if you are a gay couple. Regretfully I had also bought an afternoon tea voucher for a friend's birthday for here after previous experiences being enjoyable and must now battle to exchange this for...

I dined here with eight others on Saturday 12 November for my niece's birthday and it was a pretty poor experience. The night started off well, the staff seemed friendly, accommodating and the restaurant is really nicely decorated, but that's all the positive things I have to say about this place unfortunately. We had high expectations for the Nook on Five, and rightly so considering the price of the meals. Service was extremely slow, but we expected that considering it was their first weekend opening (we arrived at 6:30pm and didn't leave until 10:30pm). My main issue and complaint was how they handled an allergic reaction. My niece informed the staff that her husband was extremely allergic to scallops (which were on the menu) and to make sure there was no cross contamination otherwise he would be violently sick. Well, clearly there wasn't any due care or attention in the kitchen because after the party ate their main meal, my nephew-in-law was so sick and was making around 10 trips back and forward to the toilets vomiting. Other guests dining were concerned as they could see how unwell he was and asked if he was ok. This matter was first brought to the attention to the waitress. But nothing was really done, so I had a quiet word with the manager who was friendly and said he would take the details of what happened (he didn't). My niece has since emailed them to investigate what has happened but hasn't really has much of a response or a reason to what has happened, which is poor and hence why I'm writing this review so they take it seriously. I'd hate for anyone else who suffers from allergies to have this experience. Considering we had a poor experience, you would think the restaurant would offer a discount. They didn't. The group were all very unhappy with what had happened and the service they received. The service charge which was 12.5% came to £70 which I asked to be taken off, which the manager agreed (but really he should have offered in the first place). Other things that went wrong: The bill was incorrect for not only our party but several other diners. They tried to charge us £££'s more and the bill had to be reprinted three times. Most of our dinners came out cold or lukewarm. Portions were extremely small with no sides and very expensive (£30+ a main meal). If you have an appetite I recommend you order a side or two.

TLDR: Guest had allergic reaction to scallops, poor service, cold food, overpriced....

A Stellar Family Celebration Experience at The Nook On Five.

We recently had the pleasure of celebrating a significant family event at The Nook on 5 , and I can confidently say it was an extraordinary experience that exceeded all our expectations. Hosting a party of 28 people can be challenging, but the team made it look effortless.

From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the attentive staff who ensured our large group was comfortably seated and well-accommodated. The ambiance of the restaurant is both elegant and cozy, creating the perfect atmosphere for our celebration.

The menu offered a diverse array of dishes, each more enticing than the last. We were particularly impressed with the quality and presentation of the food. Every dish was a culinary masterpiece. The flavors were rich, well-balanced, and absolutely delicious. Special mention must be made of the service the bride & groom received which left everyone at the table raving.

The service was impeccable throughout the evening. Despite our large group, the staff managed to provide timely and courteous service without a hitch. They were attentive to our needs, ensuring drinks were topped up and plates were cleared promptly. Their professionalism and warmth added an extra layer of enjoyment to our evening.

What truly set The Nook on Five apart was their ability to cater to the diverse dietary preferences and requirements of our group. From vegan options to gluten-free dishes, they had something for everyone, and each dish was met with enthusiastic approval.

In addition to the wonderful food and service, the restaurant’s attention to detail in decorating our space and accommodating our specific requests made our celebration truly special. They went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of the evening was perfect, creating lasting memories for our family.

Overall, they provided an outstanding dining experience that we will cherish for years to come. I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion, especially for those looking to host large gatherings. Their exceptional food, top-notch service, and inviting atmosphere make this Cheltenham restaurant a standout choice for any celebration.

Thank you, for making our family celebration...
