I’m very sorry to have to write this negative review but I had a most horrible experience at this cafe. My daughter took me there for a breakfast treat the Saturday before Mother’s Day 2023. Firstly, we were told to sit at a particular table even though there were many other free, which we said we’d prefer. Anyway, we complied. After we’d given our order another table near us which had a comfy bench became free and we asked if we could please move as it was more cosy looking, our request was accommodated and we were very happy. Then our drinks were brought but there was no sign of our breakfasts. I inquired and was told they were very busy in a rude manner. After about 10 minutes my daughter’s breakfast arrived and she’d had requested a hard fried egg as she doesn’t like runny eggs. I noticed that her egg was runny and I said to her, ‘you asked for a hard fried egg?’, she said‘I know but I’ll just leave it, I can’t eat it like that!’ I said no you have to have one you can eat, you’ll be paying for it!. So I went up and requested if they could fry it a bit more to make it hard. The man behind the counter said, it’s your fault you changed tables, we are very busy! He was very rude but took the whole breakfast back! Then my breakfast arrived. I’d already drank my coffee so I had to order another one as I like my hot drink with my meal. Then my daughter’s order came and the egg was done as she’d requested. By the time my coffee came I’d finished my breakfast. The staff were rude the whole time rolling their eyes every time they came to serve us. When my daughter went up to pay at the end of our visit, they just rolled their eyes and never even said thank you! I would never go there again which is a pity as I’d been there about a year and a half before that and the service and food was delightful. I don’t know if it’s changed hands? It was a dreadful experience we were very...
Read moreMy family and I set out to dine at The Old Town Cafe on Parsons. However, when we arrived, we were surprised: the building that once housed the cafe had transformed into a vibrant hub filled with various shops, including a tattoo parlor, an art studio, and a small café that wasn’t always open. Slightly disheartened but determined, I again turned to Google Maps and discovered Cafe Veneto on High Street in Banbury. It was just a short and pleasant stroll from our previous location, making it easy to find.
We were enveloped in a warm and welcoming atmosphere when we stepped inside Cafe Veneto. A friendly gentleman greeted us and provided attentive service, engaging in conversation that made us feel right at home. I decided to try their ham, cheese, and mushroom omelet paired with a fresh salad. It was delicious, and the portion size was just perfect!
I also enjoyed some delightful hot coffee and rich chocolate—each cup was beautifully presented. However, the real stars of the show were the desserts! The cakes, crepes, and ice cream were incredibly light and tantalizingly satisfying.
The staff at Cafe Veneto exuded warmth and hospitality, turning our first visit into a memorable experience. We left with full bellies and smiles, grateful for the excellent service and hearty dishes that had brightened our day.
As the Dalai Lama wisely said, "Be kind whenever possible; it is always possible." Indeed, Cafe Veneto embodied this spirit perfectly. Places like these remind us of the joy of helping others and creating remarkable experiences together. Thank you for a fantastic meal and the lovely Christmas card! A very blessed and Happy Christmas to all at...
Read moreThis is to the waiter that seated us at our table. My youngest toddler and I sat down at the table that ushered to us. You never smiled at me and on occasion you scowled at me, whilst I sat there.
My partner and eldest daughter went to the loo. I noticed that you very rudely and abruptly told a customer to change seats. At this point I felt, as a woman and mother pretty scared.
I was intending on staying, shown by the fact that I had taken my coat off, taken my youngest toddler out of her pram and was viewing your menu. You never took our drinks order, it had been a while.
As soon as I saw my partner and eldest toddler return from the loo, I made a split second decision to leave. I am very much aware that you thought we never intended to stay and that we only came in so that my eldest toddler could go to the loo. You felt like you'd wasted a table, that other people could have used. If you had not been rude and aggressive, we would have stayed. My children were hungry, as it was 1pm and they love pizza.
I have no idea why you were in such a bad mood and you very much have my sympathy if you are going through a stressful time or even life. We all have bad days, but after reading quite a few reviews of a similar nature, I can only assume that there are many difficult days for you. But if you carry on in this manner, you will loose customers and this business will not survive.
I like supporting local businesses, but I also think it's important to warn people of places to avoid. You lost a table today, due to your behaviour, not our very...
