maybe its just me but i was not happy with this place the last time i went, it was my birthday and we were treated like they did not want us. we phoned and booked a table but when we got there, nobody new about us coming, they could not find us a table for 8 of us and offered us two tables of 4. we asked to move tables and was told we could not as it would disturb the other guests. this was a joke as the place was not that busy, so we finally sit down to order, we are all hungry and we go to the bar to tell us the deal for 2 meals for 10.99 is not on as its a bank holiday. by this point we were really not happy, my friend talked to the guy behind the bar and he was willing to help by sorting out the prices of the meals for us until this snotty manager comes along and says no. we pointed out there was no where stating that because it was bank holiday that the prices changed, he said check the small print, and yes in this very tiny writing was where it stated. my friend said to him you cant help us then, he replied "i could, but i'm not going to" this to me was the wrong answer. i told him politely we would not be coming back again, we was messed around from the start.
to point out a few things. the horrible smell out side the pub is the dirty pond water, that has fermented, its gone a horrible white colour and smells like a sewage. its a real turn away to me, if you cant look after a pond, fill it in. i really hope there is no fish in there as the rspc should take a look if there is. it is disgraceful
when a customer complains don't tell them you could help but your not, that is how these reviews get left. as you can see i am not happy. and even if you did help me you would still only get 2 stars, whats the big deal, with the amount of us you would have put £90 in the till. but instead we went to chequers at coal Aston and they took are money.
when a staff member is trying to help a guest and a manager under minds them this is sooooo bad, the guy behind the bar had everything under control the manager was just showing off his powers and in all fairness probably goes home and cries all night for not having no friends.
So what if its a bank holiday, would you not want a full place of happy customers? instead of screwing over the ones you already have in your establishment.
make the small print bigger so people can see it. or advice them as they walk in to the place. this is just false...
Read moreArrived at 1pm ( without a reservation) asked for a table for 8 ( mixture of adults and children) i was told there were no tables until 5pm . My son arrived 5 minutes later with his family and I informed him they had no tables available. He went on his phone and did what they do and he booked a table for 2pm just like that . So we went in the children area with the children so they could play on the activities for an hour before dinner. As I went back to the bar to fetch drinks another customer was being told no tables until 3.30pm . I thought to myself well i was told 5pm not 5 minutes before. I was going to say something but decided not to because my son had sorted a table out for us and didn't want to cause a scene. Anyway 2pm came and we was seated at our table. It was decided that all of us would have the Sunday carvery dinner. Remember its only 2pm . I approached the counter for my dinner. The meats that were left were only the scrap ends . The choice of vegetables was dismal. Garden peas ( ok ) Green beans ( under cooked . Hard ) Mash potato ( fair ) Roast potatoes ( nice ) Cauliflower in sauce ( none left ) No carrots. There was a pot that was empty that had a carrot mash concoction in it from the looks of things. So on a whole a poor dinner was had . The best things which I did like was the . Yorkshire pudding Roast potatoes I will definitely not be having a carvery dinner here ever again ( even if it was free ) If I was to ever eat here again I would order off the menu. A couple who was said across from us had ordered a meal off the menu and to be honest with you it looked lovely. I even thought to myself are we eating in the same establishment and have they changed the chef's. 😆 So even from the start with the trouble of getting a table and the meal it was a very poor experience. Won't be...
Read morePre-booked/Pre-paid drinks on a table/area of 11 persons for a company Christmas meal. Originally, we were well received, and after ordering at the bar for an order of starters, mains & deserts.
Starters arrived and we were given time to enjoy… enough time to have conversations and allow the drinks to flow. Unfortunately, this is where it takes a nose dive; conversations ended and glasses emptied we were still left with our plates ready to be cleared. At this point 30-40 minutes had passed so we prompted for our tables to be cleared and our mains to be served, after a substantial wait we finally had a cleared table and mains arriving slowly.
After having our mains, yet again we were left with plates stacked up ready to be cleared for a while. We filled the time with conversation and drinks, talking about the business and contributions we were proud of the past year, which after 30 minutes of idle chat led into a thank you speech and handing out awards to the staff, not only 5 minutes into the speech we were interrupted by which I could only assume was the manager stating that the tables (which we had reserved for 3 course meals for 11 persons and had yet to be cleared from mains) were needed in 1 hour and we’re to vacate in 20 minutes, as they needed to clear the area……we stated that we had deserts which confused her and she began explaining again that they needed the table, we again explaining we were waiting for pre-paid deserts & our service had been poor with no one clearing or attending our table without being asked.
This damped the entire experience and atmosphere we tried to create. The whole experience was poor and...
