Update July 2024: Very poor customer service from the female staff with dark rimmed glasses. Scone, jam and butter labelled as £2:55. Charged us extra for jam when it clearly stated it included it. No apology and had to ask for a refund. We were charged for three jams when only given two. The staff showed very untrusting behaviour and they came across as belittling the customers. Not an enjoyable experience at all and negatively impacted on our coffee and cakes. Music too loud to allow conversations during coffee. Would be unlikely to return in near future. No personal customer service shown.
Previous Visits: Lovely coffee and sweet choices. Staff rushing about serving customers but no time to promote good customer relations. Tables and floors need cleaning more often. Very busy . Long queues. Added comments after visit today. Tables not being cleared or clean between customers. One staff member came to our table and very quickly took my plate and I was still using it. Read moreI used to love this coffee shop but its been a while since I went in. My wife and I went in on Saturday whilst in town and I was taken aback at just how poor it had become. The place was dirty and very shabby. Tables had been wiped with dirty cloths, many tables had dirty cups and plates for the duration of our visit. The comfy seats were filthy, so much so it was a struggle to find a clean one.
Nevertheless we stayed in as we had ordered and paid for our coffee. The serving staff used to be so friendly and nice, now they all seemed to be miserable and uncaring which is a great shame. I would be interested to know if there has been a change in management since I last went in.
The last straw was my trip to the loo. I followed up a member of staff who used the toilet, I was totally shocked when he walked out without washing his hands.
It was at that point we left. Basic hygiene shouldn't be something you do if you have time, it's 2016 and in this day and age its a necessity.

Read moreI have been meeting my friend here for 10 years now, most weeks. Being an old building, it can sometimes appear a little shabby inside (but part of the vibe/atmosphere imo). Staff struggle to stay on top of tables/clutter when people have gone, but that's purely because they're so busy and popular. The staff here are ALWAYS on the go. I had cause to complain early this year, and customer service were exceptional (Justine, from memory, who turned it around for me). Eleni stands out amongst the hardworking staff: always good humoured and welcoming, accommodating, despite being so exceptionally busy. It is incredible how they remember customers and their orders every time. Thank you also to Eleni for saving my sunglasses, left behind by accident on a recent visit!!
