The Chantry — Restaurant in Chichester

I went to the Chantry last year in October with my friends who came to visit me from London. It was my first visit to this place for a night out. When we entered the building there was no one at the door so we went to get a drink and started to dance. One of my friend went out smoking, however she was not allowed to get back to the building afterwards. Couple of people who met us beforehand in another pub and was that time in Chantry too came to tell us that our friend is in trouble. We got to the door and was told by security that they can't let our friend in after midnight even if she has already been in and had a drink and us waiting for her inside. We told them that obviously no one told this my friend and we were unaware of it as no one was at the door when we got there or when she went out and this was our first time at the Chantry. However, they didn't care and accused us of lying. We asked them to check their CCTV to find out but they refused and were very rude to us. We asked to see the manager, however when the manager came insted of checking it on CCTV she just accused me of being rude when I asked her if she really thinks that my friend would be so stupid and would leave the building if she would had been told by security that she can't get back in? I haven't been there since as I didn't find them professional, especially as my friend works in hospitality in London and this attitude from Chantry's staff was very inappropriate. We understand that their policy says that they can't let people in after midnight but then you need to have someone at the door all the time explaining it to the people who want to leave the building as how otherwise they should know that they are not allowed to come in after midnight if no one tells them this?! Very bad and unprofessional attitude and I felt really sad that this happened to us on our first night out in Chichester. At least we know where not to go next time as I can't recommend this place to anyone at all after this...

We went here for food and drinks early afternoon on Saturday. They didn't have 2 small plates on the menu so we ordered the tacos, some halloumi skewers and some pizzas. The tacos were just some shop salsa and quac over a bit of chicken, none of the salad advertised. The halloumi skewers were not as advertised either and arrived on a bit of iceberg, that's it (£4.50 each!). Next, all ales were off tap apart from two much more expensive IPAs that did not fit in with the deal advertised. Finally, we received one set of cutlery (between 4) because they hadn't got any washed up! The pizza was fine although we had to eat a full pizza with our hands... I felt really sorry for the young women working the bar and service because it wasn't their fault, the system was failing. I've worked in hospitality and I think the kindest thing for your staff would have been to close the kitchen and get it tidied before carrying on. We would have asked for a partial refund because it was not worth £63... but there was a huge queue at the bar when we left and we felt too sorry for the servers. Won't be coming again or...

I am currently on deliveroo trying to find something to enjoy on a late Sunday afternoon. I have had a burger from the 'locked and loaded' pretend restaurant menu before and It was a frozen mess that I would be better off at macdonalds from. So I am appalled that today my main options are 'K-Town', 'locked and loaded', 'chik box' and then after 5pm it also becomes 'Koreatown' I.e. K-Town. The only reason the Chantry management would find it necessary to mask 4 different restaurants on deliveroo is to try and sell bad pub food at high prices to.e and time again and to dodge bad reviews. It is quite fraudulent. If one gets bad pr below than average stars they can just take it down and make up something new. All people have to do is click on the Maps and info to find out where their food is coming from because at least the drivers need to know where to go!

I have always known the Chantry to be a pretentious drug den and now it seem like the people running it don't care if they are part of a scandal to all of chichester too, because they are just...
