Oh dear. Well the chips were fluffy at least. Due to another well known establishment being closed today, a family of 5 end up here. There is little to recommend Trents even with 50% off. The older gent apologised straight away at the door that it was a cash only experience fine and fair enough. The interior is confused, is this a pub ? A cafe, a hotel a.... I don't know what....the exterior tired, blinging inside. That I can overlook but, serving first a short measure Abbots ale a half of inch short, then to discover it was flat as a pancake, then when questioning at the bar the young lady didn't have a clue asking was it cold or warm. I said it was flat had no head smelling off and cloudy. Ale is supposed to be room temperature I explained but she was not interested and I asked for another beer. The Greene King IPA she then tried instead was flat too clearly they rarely sell ale so avoid. She asked the older gent over for back up and I was offered a punk Ipa or another ipa but then he checked the price of it concluding it's about the same so waiver any difference...I should think so. No apology and 'it's kinda the same price' was not reassuring...was I out of pocket ? I couldn't be bothered to ask. I took the hoppy IPA offered and it was better than the ales on pump. The food was 50% off but to be honest 50% smaller too and my scampi and chips (they were fluffy chips ) was really like a children's portion. Meal for 5 £20. Drinks for 4 £18. Large wine.....£6.50 gulp !!! The child meal was pathetic...6 chips (fluffy) and 4 chicken nuggets and 2 cucumber sticks and 2 carrot sticks...terrible. Older gent did check was food ok and the swapped drink ok...but sadly this did not save the experience. Feels like Greene King here have reduced portions sizes to save on profit reluctantly following instructions from Sunak. Give this place a respectable refit fitting for Chichester please and get your ales in order get rid of plastic chandeliers and too bright lighting and you may be on to something. In comparison I went to The Crab in Shanklin this week also Greene King and it was much much better. To get over the experience took train to Havant for a decent pint in The Robin Hood. Lovely !

Sadly, it's been the worst experience we had in Chichester to this day. We will not be back. I am not even sure where to start, but when we arrived we were greeted byt the staff member saying that we have to have their ordering app in order to eat and drink there. We had no problem with that other than the fact that the tree tables arriving after us did get a paper menu and ordered with the waitress rather then the app. Anyway we ordered round of drinks and decided to have a look at the menu for something to eat. The drinks arrived and we ordered the food. While doing that we noticed the young chef wondering around the garden and chatting with some of the regulars telling them that she wants to go home. After an hour of waiting for the food and 20 minutes of waiting for the second drink, we decided to ask what's going on as the place wasn't even that busy. The waiter explained that he needs to see if the checks arrived to the kitchen and bar. He then brought the drinks explaining that that the checks didn't make it, but the chef is almost finished with them. Another 15 minutes and the food arrived. The wings were okay, the nachos with pulled pork had a 4 pieces of dried pork and finally the dirty fries looked like someone wasn't well on them. Looking around and seeing the chef constantly going back and forward to the cellar bringing frozen ingredients and other guests waiting forever for their food, we decided to leave and never come back. Shame for the expirience and shame for for owner as the place looks very cute, but there are other places in Chichester so much better then this.

Having lived in Bracklesham Bay for years & shop in Chichester every week, I don’t know why it has taken us so long to discover ‘Trents’.... We popped in on a Monday lunchtime to grab some food & drinks & were not disappointed! The place was totally welcoming, warm & clean. The staff were super friendly & quick with our order. Our food was delicious! Fresh, hot, tasty & cooked by an amazing lady who clearly puts love into everything she cooks - my recommendation, definitely the slow cooked pork belly! Great menu choice, lots of tasty treats on the children’s menu & a great selection of drinks. We will definitely be back again soon....(sorry there are no food pictures, it looked too delicious & we’d already tucked in by the time I remembered)

I went for lunch at Trents (Chichester) on 10/05/21 and when ordering on their app there was no option to remove peas, so I asked a member of staff if it was possible to substitute and he said no but he could ask the kitchen, once I had ordered, to hold the peas. I kindly thanked him and placed my order. After my friends food and drink had arrived I still had no drink and no food. So I asked another member of staff where my drinks were and she said they were just being made. My drinks then arrived, still no food. Side order of onion rings turned up, still no dinner. I had only ordered fish and chips. I wait... and wait, until I get frustrated because it has now been 50 minutes since I had ordered. I called over another member of staff and asked where my lunch was. She then came back and told me that the other gentleman member of staff (who I spoke to about removing my peas) had said that “she doesn’t want it anymore” to the kitchen staff and had cancelled my order! I then had to wait another 15 minutes for my lunch to arrive. By then the friend I was having lunch with had to go. So I was left eating my lunch on my own because of appalling service! I would hate to see them on a busy day!! Never ever going back would...
