All Bar One Exchange Plaza — Restaurant in City of Edinburgh

Probably won’t be going back.

The food was fine for what it was, but unfortunately about the only mildly positive aspect of the night.

My main gripe was the staff. Should’ve known minute I walked in the door, having waited for about 5 minutes (in a fairly empty place), upon being greeted by the waitress with an eye roll and a mild groan that it wasn’t going to go well.

When we were eventually served, the waiter was standoffish. Ordered some drinks (asked for an alcohol free beer, was given an alcoholic one as he later pointed out, and my guest noticed the waitress laughing about it after the fact), then tried to order food when he came back. “Steak, with prawns please” mumbles at me “Sorry?” “Nooo prawnssss!” in a charming, condescending tone as he lent forward at me. But at least I was actually able to hear him this time.

The starters came about half an hour later. Was underwhelmed with mine but it was fine (2 very small tacos for the best part of a tenner).

The staff stood backs to the customers on the service side of the bar, giggling to themselves several times during the evening about god only knows what. I’m all for fun at work, but don’t do it stood behind a customer.

When it came time to pay, not a soul in sight, sort of just left to our own devices. Less honest people would’ve been able to have a free dinner.

When I eventually got the waiters attention to pay (despite his best efforts to ignore), he didn’t allow us to review the bill, sort of just mumbled and thrust the card machine in front of us. Didn’t ask if we’d ordered off the set menu (we had), didn’t ask how we’re splitting the bill, just whacked it down (with the 10% service charge we didn’t notice until after the fact, which given we were already spending close to a hundred for this, I wouldn’t have paid due to the...

I recently had the pleasure of being served by Laiba at All Bar One, and I couldn't be more impressed with her exceptional service. From the moment I walked in, Laiba greeted me with a warm and genuine smile, making me feel immediately welcome.

Her attention to detail and efficiency were remarkable. She ensured that every aspect of my visit was perfect, from recommending delicious menu items to promptly attending to my requests. Laiba's knowledge of the menu and drink options was impressive, and her suggestions were spot on.

What truly stood out was Laiba's friendly and professional demeanor. She managed to create a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere, making my dining experience memorable. It's evident that Laiba is dedicated to providing top-notch service, and her passion for her work shines through in every interaction.

Nipped into All Bar One before a concert. What was interesting, for a Saturday night, was the queue for the bar - as they only had the 1 chewing gum chewing barman. He tried his best. Only 1 waiter on and she tried her best too - despite some customers complaining. There was a supervisor floating in and out. Tables full of dirty glasses. Overall, simply not enough staff to provide service. Toilets - no paper towels & a broken hand drier. Wine - the All Bar One wine list is a 'best of' the screw-top stuff you'd find on the bottom shelf. Lacks any quality, variety or imagination for a 'wine bar'. The sound system was dreadful - could not make out the music. Summing up - this place puts the capital A into Average. Struggling to see why it still exists.
