Note: I have spoken to the management about this before checking out and they are aware of the below. The rating is mainly based on the service but also supported by the state of the facilities offered. I have booked this trip as a little 2 day getaway for my partner’s birthday. After speaking to the hotel over booking.com and making some exciting arrangements, we were left deeply disappointed. Around a month prior to our stay, I have contacted the hotel to see if my partner’s stay could be made a bit more special for the occasion and if they offer any additional packages. I was told that for the additional price of Ā£30/night they can add a bottle of Prosecco on arrival, bath robes and slippers and free breakfasts for one of the mornings. Although the price did seem a bit steep, I’ve agreed as I wanted this to be as special as possible. Upon checking in, it seemed that the lady who checked us in was not aware at all of any arrangements until I’ve mentioned this. After checking booking.com (I assume) she has said something which was quite hard to understand but basically with the outcome that nothing has been set up. Every time I’ve tried to ask a question, it seemed like she got increasingly frustrated and ended up saying that all she can do is give me a free drinks voucher to compensate for things not being arranged. After travelling since early in the morning, arguing was not something I wanted to do so I took our room key and went to see what the room was like. Although a lot of reviews mention housekeeping, our room was very clean. The bed was comfortable and there was quite a good amount of space. Now onto the negatives… Besides the above, the hotel is in desperate need of some touch ups. Our window didn’t properly close, nor did the bathroom door. One of the lights in the bathroom didn’t work, nor one of the bedside lamps. There is 0 soundproofing and you can clearly hear people in the corridor, as well as drains from other rooms, people opening/closing wardrobes from rooms next door. The selection of coffee/tea was a bit poor (only decaf instant coffee). There was also only one hanger for clothes for a double room. Side of the TV remote was broken off and the TV itself didn’t have a TV guide on and very minimal selection of channels. The hotel is a solid 20-25min walk to city centre (around Ā£5 one way with Uber). Overall we were really disappointed with the stay here and even though we were invited to come back as a consolation, we will have to really think about it before we come back to Edinburgh.

Stayed at the hotel for 10 days and 9 nights First of I would like to say that this is not a 4 star hotel. Might be a 3 star at best. Now the rooms had decent space. The smell of the hotel was not clean and slightly dusty. (Might be due to switching the carpets at the time.) Check in was smooth however there was no help with the bags. When I arrived they already prepared the couch into a bed for some reason even though I didn’t request it, however that’s not an issue. The bathroom has no issues except a huge goat portrait, not a problem however very weird and creepy. The AC in the room was very bad and I’m from Saudi Arabia so I know hot weather very well. Contacted the hotel staff at multiple times and they finally fixed it after 5 days. They did not offer a change of rooms at the time. During my stay I also had an encounter with a wonderfully large spider in my bathtub, that was a very nice experience at 2 am. This is a very serious issue for cleanliness. They were changing the hotel’s carpets which was very annoying, they started from 9-10pm. Had maintenance knock the door several times for access from the inside of the room however they were nice about it, not that I can say the same about the hotel staff. Now the whole stay was ok at most, if the review ended here I would give 3 stars. I’m giving 1 star due to the attitude of the hotel staff. They are rude, snarky and like to ignore things. There were multiple days when I requested make up of the room and they ignored it completely. Regarding the AC I called around 4 times and went to the front desk multiple times until they finally contacted maintenance. During the makeup of the room I requested that the service be delayed by 5 minutes so I can leave the room however I was told I have 3 minutes or they are leaving. On checkout, I was met with a snarky attitude that check out is at 11 not at 12, which I was not given a previous notice of. I don’t really understand what kind of pressure they are against to have this kind of attitude with guests, however this is not acceptable at all from an establishment as well known as Leonardo. The breakfast is a buffet which was ok however selection was sparse. The price for breakfast is 13Ā£ if you call at ahead at night to reserve it. Or 16Ā£ if you come at the door. Coffee they provide is really nice gotta give it to them on that. At the end of the day I don’t know how they got a 4 star with all these issues. Now this was my first stay at a Leonardo hotel and it will be the last time. Attached is creepy goat.

Great location, some staff appear friendly with some people not all some look at you like you shouldn’t be here! I’m excellent at reading facial expressions, micro expressions, tone, pitch and volume-of someone’s voice especially body language . I’m a speech and language therapist amongst other roles in the NHS From day one my room had a dirty cotton bud on the floor by the window I just left it as I saw it also stale jelly beans on the floor by the sofa bed. I just left them there too! I couldn’t be even bothered to complain as this should not happen anyway as they prepare the room for you and you cannot go in until a certain time. Shower floor stained but when water hits it , it disappears so I know it is just dirty. I have taken pictures of misplaced items for my own reference, what put me off complaining was I came to Scotland to attend the National women’s conference I asked a male receptionist if I could lend a scissors for 2 minutes to cut out my ID picture for conference. I felt belittled the way he spoke to me his tone and volume was so rude!!! He said ā€œWhat do I want forā€ ā€œNo you go and get it and bring it down here he said!! Referring to reception I was so upset by this being spoken to like child. How rude what a loser man power I guess on acting desk director! lol I do get health and safety but please explain to the next person you speak to and be kind!! they may not take it as well as I did I’m being very polite would really like to say more but let’s keep it professional shall I???? The two ladies made me feel welcomed was Mona Lisa and Alexandra thank you For your time and supporting me with a tray for breakfast so I could carry my food to My bedroom no one else bothered to ask me over my days I’m here and done the same practice. Please notice your guests and for the clean towels thank you Alexandra!! You will do Well in your career your such a beautiful soul. I have thought about it I don’t like to think in anger. But I would not book again sad it didn’t work But I will make sure I pass this on to all my colleagues in who are coming back for conferences not to book here we all come from different cultures and diverse backgrounds and would not like to be spoke to in that way or tone or even worse a dirty room. I haven’t even check out yet! I don’t care can’t wait to go back to England Brum here we come !! Just at the bar Lovely Scott’s gentleman was serving he was so polite to say I will be with you in minute. I said to him I will come Back as he was busy, when I returned just another gentleman was on the bar looked me up and down like I’m begging drinks! So the pub was great grabbed some champagne and celebrated home tomorrow Brum here we come yippppee Thank God I didn’t book for four days phew!! Easy escape this time next time I will book a professional hotel money is not a problem for me so I guess you get what you pay for never ever again with...
