I was pretty sure I had tried BFB at a market before but I had never went to their store. We happened to be walking by so we stopped on by. It’s a cute teeny weeny shop but they have a large collection of sweet treats and a wall of photographs of doggies that have visited the store which is a nice idea. I do love a bun so I went with one of those and a party stuffed cookie. The wife went for this chocolate slab thing which I can’t remember exactly what it was, and also a party stuffed cookie. The cookies weren’t bad, obviously very sweet and a dense centre. The looked nice, hence why we bought 2 of them. The bun was ok. The wife wasn’t a fan of the sauce on top. I felt the bun was a bit doughy and I too thought the sauce on top was a bit sickly. Finally the chocolate slab was a pure beast to get your mouth around but it tasted pretty good.

While the service was noteworthy and the bill aligned with current standards, I can’t say the overall experience lived up to the hype. Perhaps a different choice of items could alter my opinion, but based on this encounter, I’d rate...

Last year, Babyfaced Baker became me go-to for deliveries when we "needed" treats at work. They're on one of the delivery platforms.

This year, I finally got to visit in person this year and that's thanks to 358 Eat. 358 was a charity supporting secret menu festival.

That's two cool things about Babyfaced already. They're good people who help charities and when presented with a raft of bakeries for delivery, I pick them. Trust me, I eat a lot of baking.

There's currently an abundance of bakers on Leith Walk but Babyfaced is one worth walking past otherwise to get to.

Tip: Babyfaced Baker opens early. If you're commuting up the Walk, or even heading to the station then the wee baker is a good stop.

The front end isn't huge. I can't imagine there being tables in chairs inside, but perhaps outside if the regulations change.

There is coffee, good coffee, and you can even buy a bag of beans. That coffee bean resupply might be my next excuse to visit in person.

There's merch too! I imagine the branded fashion might be a wonderfully nostalgic gift...

Food is fine, though very overpriced. My main issue is the staff would rather chat to one another and talk to their visiting friends than serve you. I stood for a while as the person at the counter pet their friends dog and was caught up to date with all the vet issues. Finally, after looking at me several times, rolled their eyes to their friends, saying they'd deal with me, took my order and cash whilst continuing the conversation with their friends, not even thanking me as I left.

I was previously a massive fan and found the staff to be really friendly, but this was one instance in a number with this place where I've felt like they looked down their nose at me.

This was over a year ago and I won't be...

Women who was serving in this cafe accused me of disrespecting her when I went in to retrieve a Deliveroo order and asked me to leave the shop because I didn’t say hi to her. As I could clearly see she was busy, I was trying to remain polite and waited until she approached me once she was finished but instead I received this verbal abuse from her and another women who worked there also chipped in defending her, what odd people. Maybe she was having a bad day but gives you no right to bring this type of attitude when you work in a customer facing role. Service and attitude of staff is appalling, stay away from this place. Deliveroo worker or customer, you really need to treat people better and take them at face value.
