I'm the lady from Tanjore and I'd like to respond to the review below (Please scroll down). I find this platform ideal for sharing my thoughts to the person who has written the review and the management team of Chennai Marina.
I truly value local guide reviews for their role in promoting businesses locally and globally. Your commitment to crafting positive and honest reviews is commendable.
In this digital age of 2023, accessing Chennai Marina's menu is effortlessājust a few clicks to reach their website. No need to physically search or inquire. Can you offer any evidence for your claim for snooping? Doubtful. Therefore, it appears to me the review is motivated and engineered. The silence of the owners and the management team to address this also reinforces the same.
From Tanjore we extend a warm welcome to Chennai Marina on Clerk Street. Clerk Street has great potential to becoming a leading foodie street in Edinburgh. It is already that in many ways and thanks to businesses that has contributed to this over a long period by fostering a competitive but supportive, friendly, and healthy business environment. We sincerely request that new businesses behave responsibly and does not spoil this healthy local business environment for everybody by endorsing/encouraging detrimental practices by rogue elements.
A 5 star rating given to welcome you in Clerk Street. j y

Although bummed about Orlando's closure, very happy they have a location in the neighborhood now! I have been looking for the biryani to match this guy who brought his amazing home cooked one to a party months ago, and I remember him recommending this restaurant! The chicken biryani sure did not disappoint! It was full of flavour and the best I have had in the vicinity (sorry Mosque Kitchen & Kismot -bigger portions but not as good). Was already thinking about what I will order next time after the first few bites... I think I will become a regular šNoticed the lady from Tanjore down the street snooping around asking for a copy of the menu šEspionage of their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHad an extremely disappointing experience with the service and food. Visited this restaurant today for lunch in Newington. I ordered two lamb biriyanis with a starter and asked for a couple of glasses of water. The restaurant was quite busy and I had to wait patiently for my order for about 30-35 minutes. It made me annoyed to see that the person who runs the floor served the food for another table right beside me, even though they had arrived after I placed my order. But the person didn't even try to come tell me why the order was being delayed until I called him and reminded him of my order and the water I requested before. After five minutes, heĀ came out with the starter dish and just two glasses. Once again, I had to call the person to remind them about the main course, as i asked to server both starter and main course together. However, I was disappointed to find that water still had not been served. To be honest, the food tasted good, but oneĀ of the two biriyanis we ordered had noĀ meat on it. Instead, the rice covered big lambĀ bones with some flesh. Later, we requested the drinks menu, but the person informed us that it was not available at the moment. Unfortunately, they only provided us with the option of soft drinks. After all these, I approached him near the cash counter and provided him with feedback in a polite manner. He didn't even bother to own up to his mistakes and was quite disengaged. He gave me the bill and told me that if I pay cash, I'll get a 10% discount. Something happened after this that caused me to lose my calm. I paid 40 pounds for a bill that was 38 pounds. When I raised my hand to get the change, the person just dropped it on my hand from above, like I was untouchableĀ and begged for money. I found the behaviour to be extremely disrespectful and it greatly offended me. The individual failed to offer an apology for hisĀ actions and simply ignored the situation. The proper etiquette is to delicately hand over the remaining balance to the customers, rather than dropping it. The service was extremely unpleasant and left me feeling very dissatisfied and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA Taste of Chennai in the Heart of Scotland š®š³š¬š§ Tucked away in one of Scotlandās bustling cities is a hidden gem that brings the bold, authentic flavors of Chennai straight to your plate. From the moment you step in, the aroma of curry leaves, mustard seeds, and freshly ground spices lets you knowāyouāre in for something special. Food: The menu is a South Indian food loverās dream. Crisp, golden dosas served with tangy sambar and creamy coconut chutney; steaming idlis so soft they practically melt in your mouth; and rich Chettinad curries bursting with depth and heat. The biryani is fragrant and layered, true to Tamil Nadu tradition, not just a spicy rice dish. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are equally strongāthereās no compromise on authenticity here.
Ambiance: Warm, welcoming, and unpretentious. The decor nods subtly to South Indian heritage with kolam-inspired patterns and Carnatic music playing softly in the background. It's a perfect blend of comfort and culture.
Service: Friendly staff who know the menu well and are happy to recommend dishes if youāre new to South Indian cuisine. Service is attentive without being overbearing.
Overall: A must-visit if you're craving real South Indian food in Scotland. Whether you're from Chennai and feeling nostalgic or just a curious foodie, this place wonāt disappoint. The spice levels are adjustable, so donāt worry if youāre not used to the heat.
ā Rating: 4.5/5 Delicious, authentic, and reasonably priced. Chennai has found a flavorful home...
