Don't generally do reviews - but I like what they've done to the place. Nice vibe, good selection of beer etc, lovely staff. Cosy and cool with great Bluesy music. Only major problem was that some complete dick splash came in giving the poor staff grief that it's not what it used to be and that he'd no longer frequent the place. Also mentioning that under the previous regime - bar staff could only survive if he and his elite bunch of regulars were happy with them - all in a very loud voice. Politely he said he wouldn't be frequenting the establish any more. Sadly he reappeared 20 minutes later and ordered a pint. It is a great little pub. I had avoided it for year. Due to the previous management. But I ma very happy and glad to go in now. Clean, fresh, service with a smile and a great selection of whisky and ales. It is now my new favourite waterhole.
The interior is lovely. They have really struck the balance between keeping the original feel if this pub that is over 100 years old. And adding some little bits and pieces to put their own twist on it. I have heard nothing but positive feedback from everyone else.

Read moreI inly came in for a quick half whilst waiting for an uber but as someone who went into the old Clark's every now and then it is such a crying shame to see it like this.
It has about as much authenticity as the owner's clip-on braces. Booker's red wax candles melted over the bar surface, most of which is inaccessible because there are tables against the bar.
Bar staff have fashionable turn-ups, moustaches and ironic lapel badges. Imagine Alice in Wonderland meets Hard Rock Café with a Victorian twist. Such a waste.
