Never complain about anything but the service at this place was very bad. We had wanted to try this place for a while and thought the perfect time would be for a trip with friends to Edinburgh for the fringe. Booked 3 weeks in advance to avoid disappointment. On arrival (ten mins early) there was no record of our booking due to a mix up with different booking systems despite my various email confirmations and reminders. We were sent away and asked to return at a later time to accommodate us which while frustrating we were fine about as these things happen. On return, we were seated at a table that was available when we arrived initially so I’m unsure why we were sent away (I doubt anyone used that table within the space of 15-20 mins). Thereafter, the meals we ordered were enjoyable enough. The chicken meals were nice but the beef was pretty dry. However after around 35 mins or just over that the waiter put an unrequested bill down and without looking/explaining anything to us told us that our table time was up as he walked away. This was very disappointing given the price- it is not priced as fast food! Some of our group were hoping to have churros or a further drink (we’d only had one drink each and one main each by this point). On complaint they did say they’d try to accommodate something for us but of course given the total lack of atmosphere/the poor service we just wanted to leave at that point. To their credit, they took nearly 50% off our bill and gave us some shots. The server did appear to be embarrassed by our experience. Would suggest they sort their booking system out so diners feel wanted rather than an...

Visited the El Jefe's today. Clean and tidy place. Staff very friendly. Food was OK. I has a beef Borito, sour cream on the side and Mexican rice. The Salsa that came with my Borito was very pleasant in flavour but far too liquidy. It run down of my Tortias like a soup which really was a shame. The Borito was very good. The beef was juicy and tender and all very flavourful. I would definitely go back there and try any of their other dishes. Please visit and let us know how your experience was. I paid for 2 drinks, a Borito, extra sour cream and extra Mexican rice £28. I think this is a very fair price. By the way, the Borito was bigger than any other Borito I ever had. If I had known that before I wouldn't had ordered Mexican rice on the side. I almost forgot to explain the only 3 stars at Aymosphere. The music they played fitted to the place but it was played far to loud. The loude music itself was after a while very bothersome but then groups of people came in too and in order for them to have a conversation they had to speak up loud. The noise level was really bad. But that is just me. Maybe I wouldn't have bothered if I was still in my 20's, maybe I am just getting too old. Please give it a shot and let me know what your...

We went for the first time during fringe and despite advertising a Sunday roast, they don’t make it during festival period. We ordered something and after the order was taken they told us some of the items were not available. Anyway, I booked a table the 10/09 for my partner birthday. They sent me a message few days ago asking me to confirm if I wanted a Sunday roast and what meat ( I explained that it was a birthday surprise )so I could only have choose the meat when arrived but the basically forced me to spoil the surprise as I could risk not to have availability. I chose the neat and 2 hours before the reservation they told me there was “a problem “ in the kitchen and they could not offer me the Sunday roast anymore. I am just disappointed and left with a big problem to solve and find a place 2 hours before lunch on a Sunday afternoon. I cancelled my reservation and I will not go anymore. Stop advertising things...

I was really excited to try their roast dinner after seeing it on Instagram. We went for the chateaubriand which came with quite a few sides and we also ordered the sides of braised red cabbage and Mexican mac and cheese. The beef was very tasty and tender but it was cold. The gravy was very runny and had no taste and the Yorkshire puddings were flat and very oily. However, the creamed corn was delicious. The side of mac and cheese was incredibly odd, it was very runny and had a thick layer of melted cheese floating on top. I don’t know what it tasted of but it wasn’t very good. The lady who served us was lovely but it all felt a bit slow and not very attentive. The roast looked great when it came out but sadly did not live up to expectations. My friends and I gave the whole experience a 4/10 and probably won’t be back.
