I have been here twice. The first time I loved it, the second time was dreadful. My wife and I booked a table for 7:20pm and arrived well on time. Shortly after arriving a waiter came to us and told us he needed the table by 9:30. He was a bit abrupt but it was a reasonable request. At 8:30 shortly after finishing our main meal he dropped the bill on the table and told us to leave. I told him that was fine but it was not very good customer service because he told us 9:30. At this point he started to harass us and told us to leave the restaurant. All that was required was a bit of politeness and an apology but instead he decided it would be better to attack us. I'm disappointed because I like this restaurant but your waiter Udaya has let you down - he should be disciplined and sent on a customer courtesy course. He will cost you money in the end with his pathetic attitude.
RESPONSE: folks as you can from the owner's response, these small-minded fools have no idea about customer service. I was not trying to "be smart" - I was ordering like a typical patron... Starters, main dessert. How is that being smart?! If you want to enjoy your hard-earned date-night, go somewhere else - Bombay Bicycle Club does not care for its customers, it cares for turning tables. They charge expensive prices and expect customers to get in and get out like a...
Read moreMy partner took me here to celebrate and have dinner recently and it was so outstanding!! As soon as we came into the door we were warmly greeted and seated, even offered us complimentary papadams and even though we weren’t interested in them they brought out two really lovely pakora vegetable pieces for us to try and they were so good.
For our mains we both really enjoyed our dishes and I would highly recommend getting the butter chicken it was very filling and the sauce was beautiful with some peshwari naan. I regret not staying for dessert as every single dish our waiter handed us was so delicious.
Before we left I had mentioned that I was cold and Edinburgh normally does get very cold around this time of the year, I must’ve been over heard because the waiter returned to us with complimentary traditional chai tea to keep us warm for when we left, we were very grateful for it and it sure did keep us warm when walking the cold streets of Edinburgh.
Honestly I was so surprised we were the only two in as the dinning experience was amazing and we will definitely be returning, if you are looking for a dinning experience with fantastic service, really tasty food, and for there to be something for everyone, then this is the...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gurkha Bar and Restaurant in Edinburgh and I must say, it was absolutely fantastic! From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy ambiance.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show – the curry. Gurkha Bar and Restaurant has truly perfected the art of curry-making. The flavors were rich, aromatic, and balanced perfectly. The menu offered a wide range of options, ranging from mild to spicy, allowing everyone to find their preferred level of heat. I particularly enjoyed the chicken tikka masala, which had tender meat cooked to perfection and a deliciously creamy sauce.
Apart from the curry, the restaurant also excelled in its service. The portions at Gurkha Bar and Restaurant were generous, leaving us satisfied and content.
Overall, Gurkha Bar and Restaurant definitely deserves the title of the best curry in town. The combination of exceptional food, attentive service, and inviting atmosphere creates a memorable dining experience that I can't wait to repeat.
