During my holidays, I visited this restaurant that I somehow missed during my two years of living there. What a hidden gem it turned out to be! I can't believe I didn't discover it sooner.

I had the pleasure of indulging in their mouthwatering dishes and let me tell you, I wish I had more days in Edinburgh just to eat at this place. As someone who grew up in Maharashtra, I was seriously missing vada pav, pav bhaji, and mango mastani, and this restaurant brought back all those nostalgic flavors in full force. Each bite transported me back to the streets of my hometown, and it was absolutely fantastic.

I tried a whole array of dishes, and every single one was simply amazing. And hold up, we can't forget about the masala chai. It was like a warm hug from a local chaiwala, with that incredible aroma that instantly wakes you up and soothes your soul. Pure chai perfection!

Now, let's talk about the cherry on top of this already incredible experience—the Bollywood playlist. Whoever curated that playlist deserves a round of applause. The songs were on point and added that extra touch of magic to the whole dining experience.

To say I can't wait to return to this place would be an understatement. I am already counting down the days until I can have another taste of their deliciousness. If you're in Edinburgh or planning a visit, do yourself a favor and make a beeline for this restaurant. You won't regret it, my friend. It's a culinary journey that will leave you with a heart full of joy and a stomach full...

I visited Tuk Tuk mid-week with friends, the appeal being an unusual menu comprising of street curries that you wouldn't find anywhere else.

I opted for the ginger garlic chicken (£8.15), which is described as tomato garlic chicken pieces cooked in a rich gingery sauce with pilau rice (£3.15), which I enjoyed.

I tried the Daal Makhni (£7.10) that a friend ordered which was delicious and rich in depth and flavours.

The lamb lasooni (£8.95) is one I will try next and a dish I would should have ordered. This is described as chef's favourite with speciality lamb diced and cooked with whole cloves of garlic. It's one that I was drawn to with succulent pieces of lamb in a dark, rich sauce.

Portions are generous so you won't need to over-order, although you could easily order extras that will be cooked fresh in no time.

Every dish looked succulent, tasty and appetising. Service is flawless by friendly staff in a casual environment. Everyone enjoyed what they had with no complaints.

This is BYOB with a £1.50 charge per person. There is a Tesco nearby and they serve soft drinks and table water.

I love this place. In a city which is packed with curry houses, Tuk Tuk stands out from the rest with unusual dishes you won't find anywhere else, keen prices, generous portions and outstanding customer service.

I would recommend...

Food literally took 45 minutes to arrive, with drinks taking 35 minutes. Kept looking around wondering if we'd been forgotten about. Wish I had the same food everyone else was raving about on reviews, the 'unauthentic' chicken korma was exactly that. No coconut milk whatsoever. Completely lackluster. Didn't acknowledge our prior booking or our special day, then added a sneaky 'charity' surcharge to top it all off with no mention of it whatsoever. And no apologies for the wait. What a complete let down.

Edit in Response to Restaurant: Do you even have the right table? What nonsense. I know what time we booked our reservation and from that exactly when we got our food and drinks because I checked my phone for the time when they finally arrived. Are you only going off the time when someone finally took our order and put it into your system?

Positive comments? You asked how the food was and we said it was nice rather than kick up a stink with your staff. Take that as a 'positive' if you want. We won't be back to ask for the surcharge to be taken off in future: the fact it's hidden on your menu in what I assume is in small print isn't very transparent. My review is to warn other future diners. Hope you don't lie to others who give criticism to your business. I've lowered my rating from a two to a one...

Bursting with Flavour – A Fantastic Experience at Tuk Tuk Edinburgh! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We recently visited Tuk Tuk Edinburgh, and it was such a fun and flavourful dining experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is vibrant and colourful, with a street-food-style charm that really adds to the experience. We ordered Pav Bhaji, Dahi Puri, Samosa Chaat, Naan, and Chilli Chicken Curry – and every dish hit the mark in its own way. • The Pav Bhaji was rich, buttery, and comforting – exactly how it should be. • The Dahi Puri was an explosion of textures and flavours – crispy, tangy, sweet, and spicy all at once. • The Samosa Chaat was packed with flavour and beautifully balanced – crunchy, creamy, and spiced just right. • The Chilli Chicken Curry brought the heat in the best way – bold, fiery, and deeply satisfying. • And the Naan was soft, fresh, and perfect for scooping up every last bit of curry. The portion sizes were generous for a tapas-style menu, and everything felt freshly made and full of character. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing – and the staff seemed genuinely passionate about the food. Tuk Tuk is a great spot if you’re looking to try a mix of Indian street food-inspired dishes with bold, unapologetic flavours. Can’t wait to go back and try more from the menu!

If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would. The service here was amazing. The staff were very kind and helpful. The bathrooms were cool. It was fun to find my way around them. I love the interior. It was super cool. I don't even know where to start with the food and drinks. They were all so good. I tried the rose lassi, and it ways very good. It was also pink, which is cool. They recommend you get 2-3 dishes per person. For the Roadside Plates, my table got the Puri Yogurt Bombs, Tuk Tuk Samosas, and Chicken 69. They were all delicious. Each Roadside Plate is portion sized. For the Street Curries, we got Unauthentic Chicken Korma, Butter Chicien, and Raste Ke Biryani. All amazing. The Street Curries contained more food than the Roadside Plates. The sides did not disappoint. We got 2 orders of Peshwari Naan and 1 order of Garlic Naan. I've never had Peshwari Naan Naan before and it was life changing. Each order or Naan is one piece of Naan. This is a very good restaurant, and visiting it was one of the best decisions of my life. You need to try this restaurant as soon as you can.
