went to this restaurant with friends after hearing some good stuffs about their Korean fried chicken. I ordered tteokbokki and found a man’s hair in it considering it was short in length and none of my friends were male nor they had such short hair. The restaurant denied it saying that none of their chefs or staff has black hair when clearly their waiting staff had black hair. They believed that the hair could have appeared from the customers around. I understand such things can happen but the restaurant should have owned up to it and take measures to create a hygiene environment in the kitchen. Anyway, I was offered to have my dish remake but the dish remade had the black spring roll thing missing from top and the quantity seemed to have decreased so it was quite disappointing. However, the dish was nice taste wise. My friends highly appreciated the Korean fried chicken but didn’t like really like the rest of their dishes much.
Edit: Yes, the review is based on my first and last visit to Ong gie which was last December. The photos of tteokbokki attached are the ones which was served to be first. What would I gain from giving the restaurant an exaggerated review? The restaurant didn’t apologise nor agree to it back then and neither do they agree it now, nothing has...
Read moreMy friend and I decided to go to Korean BBQ around the corner first but he was superbly late and there was no space left, we decided to come to Ong gie.
And surprise I was pretty happy here! The best customer service I’ve had in a while. Though that night the restaurant wasn’t too busy as it was week day~
The selection foods and bowls were pretty tasty and flavourful. What impressed me most was the waitress how she interacted with us. Very engaging and how they guide us on how we should cook the meats and veg on the BBQ. And they would do a very good clean to swapping the iron plate while there’s still food still cooking.
Very polite and informative.
I noticed they write also write in Korean and not Chinese compare to Korean BBQ. I have no beef (no pun intended) when it comes other Asia cuisines run’d by Chinese but it’s not quite right that everyone assumes when the food tastes good that it’s authentic.
This restaurant in my first time experience was most pleasant and enjoyable. I thought the total cost from all the food we had was gonna be quite high budget but it came out the most reasonable cost.
A big thumbs up if you want to try...
Read moreOkay, first of all, the food is amazing. It used to be our favorite restaurant but I think we are never coming back again because enough is enough when it comes to volountarily arrogant service: First time, we had a booking but it hadn't been considered and we had to wait outside for half a hour. Second time, an additional ~15 pounds was added to the bill and it turned out our table had been confused with another one. Last time, we had a booking for my girlfriend's birthday. We waited for a long time just to order. We were quite hungry and we pressed a the service button in case we were forgotten. Then we could order but only drinks first. Then we finally order BBQ with several sides. When we finished about 3/4 of the food, the waitress brought us the bill and asked us to leave because it had already been 2 hours (but we only got served very late). We paid and tried to finish the food but much to our surprise they started taking away our plates while we were still eating. I have never seen that in my life and I could never treat a customer in such a way. Despite the fantastic foods, I do not think we will be back after the...
