It's All Good — Restaurant in City of Edinburgh

Good food but shame that that's all there is to it. Bigged up by their rating & their words. Let down by the incompetent, unprofessional service & missing simple things like an up-to-date menu board that would save ordering time & money.

They had none of the dishes or drinks we wanted on their chalkboard menu: none of their specials anymore and 1 out of 3 smoothies. They could've bothered to score/rub off the things they run out of. Takes a few seconds. Not hard. Wasn't that busy nor is it a big place. Other places that use paper menus have the decency to tell you what's not available before you choose but the server didn't even do that. Instead we wasted our time & at a glance we could've known whether we wanted to stay, since no other options appealed.

The server couldn't even tell us what a dish contained properly. We asked what was in the special chicken burger with salad, wondering what was special about it enough to pick, they said hesitatingly 'it has chicken...& comes with salad, it's really nice', which we could've guessed ourselves from the board. Turns out what's special about the burger is it comes with pesto, parmesan shavings & some sort of prosciutto. Lucky we're not fussy and disliked any of those. Servers should at least know what's in their menu, which isn't even large, less so with a lot of options that should've been taken off. And if they're not sure, they should ask the chef.

The server had to take our order twice with waiting time in between as she wasn't clear the first time what was sold out. So I had to pick yet another dish I didn't want initially. And then the server who had been writing our orders on a piece of paper came out a third time after a while to triple-check. It was clearly said the first and second time. What is the point of them even writing? What did they write? And still the order came out wrong. The server apologised and suggested just swapping out the ingredient. Thankfully the chef made the right decision and gave the wrong one on the house & provided the right one later.

All in all, seemed like an inexperienced server but fairly decent food. Not sure it deserves the 4.9...

This is one of those places where you walk in and immediately feel at home. Stumbled upon it today by chance but glad I did.

The decor: it's a small cozy place with tables inside and outside, really well decorated, large variety of plants hanging at ceiling level, exposed brick work and pipes, nice lighting, paintings for sale. Felt very trendy and cozy.

The food: I had the large salad bowl with falafel and it was diverse, fresh and delicious, an explosion of colours on your plate. The falafels tasted amazing as well, I think they were freshly prepared because they had a good combination of spices and didn't feel dry like in some places.

The coffee: great blend, tasted so good I had to have a second.

The desert: I had a decadent chocolate cake that just hit the spot, not too sweet yet very tasty. One word, decadent.

The staff: very lovely, and welcoming. The owner (Scott?, might be wrong) was like a conductor in an orchestra, making sure everyone is looked after, having a chat and being very helpful. The kind of character emanating kindness. The rest of the staff were equally lovely but this dude certainly lighted up the atmosphere.

All in one, it felt like watching a play, a very animated place, where people talk to each other, where regulars and new comers blend in and...

The very best all day breakfast I've ever had! This is my first review on Google and 'It's all good' cafe has inspired me to write about it due to its massively impressive food and super friendly and entertaining service (from a guy who is a very smiley Scottish Jamie Oliver). I'm no veggie but the veg haggis was amazing, even the tomatoes were made a triumph! Eggs cooked too perfection, top quality bacon, chunky toast, literally every element of the breakfast has been thought through and executed beautifully. The price was a little high, but certainly not for the quality we received. I'm pretty careful with money but at £10, this was even a bargain for me. Thank you...
