Culinary Innovation Unveiled If you're seeking a culinary adventure like no other in Edinburgh, look no further than this restaurant. As someone who appreciates unique food experiences, stumbling upon this gem was a delightful surprise. Firstly, let's talk about their concept of flavored butters – genius! It adds a whole new dimension to even the simplest of dishes. From savory to sweet, the variety is impressive, and each butter enhances the flavors in ways I never knew possible. Now onto the menu – sandwiches and cold plates may sound basic, but trust me, they're anything but. The creativity and attention to detail in each dish are evident. The “Carrot and sunflower seed tahini with Pomogranet seed”was a standout for me, with its harmonious blend of flavors and textures. What I love most is their commitment to using locally sourced ingredients. It not only supports the community but also ensures the freshest and highest quality produce in every bite. And let's not forget about the service – impeccable! The staff are not only knowledgeable about the menu but also genuinely passionate about the culinary journey they're taking you on. Their recommendations only added to the overall experience. In conclusion, exceeded my expectations in every way. It's a refreshing change from the usual dining scene in Edinburgh, and I cannot wait to return to explore more of their innovative creations. If you're a food enthusiast looking for something truly special, do yourself a favor and pay them a visit. You won't be disappointed.

A Delightful Return to Exceptional Flavours Once again, I found myself at this delightful restaurant, and it didn’t disappoint! Their “Five Sharing Plates for Two” menu is an extraordinary culinary experience. The Pickle Plate with olive antipasto and sourdough was a refreshing start, offering bursts of flavour in every bite. The Abagannuc – a lovely mix of aubergine, tomato, pepper, and pomegranate with pita – was simply divine. The courgette with romesco and capers was perfectly balanced, while the sweet potato with miso, lime, and chilli, paired with yoghurt and coconut, offered a bold, vibrant taste. The Sticky Toffee Pudding, finished with muscovado, was pure indulgence. For those preferring a vegan option, the 70% chocolate mousse with muscovado and currants is equally impressive. This is a place where each dish feels thoughtfully crafted and absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!

Healthy and delicious! Eat here now and eat here often! Organic. Local. Sustainable. Seasonal. Fair trade. This is what all restaurants should be transitioning towards. The menu is creative and the service excellent. Make sure to try the drink menu, the flavour combinations are top notch!  I was only in Edinburgh for a few days and discovered Mara's Picklery on my last day and I will look forward to eating here often when I am able to return. It is an easy and beautiful walk from the city center. I fell in love with the Marchmont neighborhood. Thank you for the memorable experience!

We love this little cafe/restaurant which has flourished over he last couple of years here in Marchmont. It is run by two people who work incredibly hard in a very confined space - and do their thing to perfection. The menu is short and mostly veggie but we've never been disappointed by the quality of the food, which uses imaginative techniques and flavours. Portions are substantial so check out what others are eating before you go the whole hog. That won't be hard because the floor space is tiny and customers are litterally cheek by jowl. This creates an atmosphere of its own that not everyone will like (there is takeaway) but be assured that Mara's is really good at what it does and is...
