This little pub is very nice, they have a good range of beers and whiskeys, staff is nice and the place is dog friendly! The atmosphere is quite relaxing specially during weekdays, although sometimes they can be quite busy as they have few tables. Food is not the best but for pub grabs is alright! I’d say Marchmont gets some of its character thanks to this wee pub!

We ducked in here during an especially rainy night for a quick quaff & were pleasantly charmed by the chill vibe & especially friendly bartender, Finn. We chatted with a local patron & swapped travel anecdotes & advice. Somehow, it was both a surprise and also completely expected Edinburgh experience. Would happily go back for another round!

Lauren and the staff are first class, always happy to help, the food is good, the drinks are great and the service is superb. Prices are spot on for the area,👍 The Earl has come to the next level. Very popular with students who fit in very well with the locals. Caters for all ages. Check it out,you will not be disappointed 😉

Went in tonight between 8-9pm Friday 26th of January 2018 . Barmaid spilled beer all over the place which got on my jacket however she only bothered apologizing to the affluent looking couple seated in the bar not to me the customer who had to pay for the eventual pint and I don't have the money to get it dry cleaned or buy another one on a fancy. She also mucked up a second pint but no grace or apology to the actual mug who was paying for it. The bar supervisor looked like a real space cadet. Dressed like he was auditioning for a revival of Waynes World or something like that. Certainly not the kind of attire you would expect in a bar that try's come across as being a posh local boozer. No ownership of the situation. A typical modern boozer in Merchmont which summs up the devoid psyche of modern Edinburgh in a nutshell. I agree with other reviewers the service varies in a snobbish way. I wouldn't be surprised if it was...

Nice local pub with a good choice of drinks, friendly staff and nice locals make for a good chat. Sit outside when it’s nice ☀️ 👍 a few changes over the last few years 2021 onwards. Prices go up with a change of owner it seems ? No food but a nice arrangement with a local takeaway which looks like it works ok,dogs allowed but I’d be happier if the staff or owners Would keep them off the seats ! Not nice when your sitting next to one and it decides to shake Hair all over you and your beer 🤮 they also smell a bit so keep them on the floor.staff could also be a bit more vigilant about customers smoking vapes in the bar ! 🚭 but enough negative stuff they also have live music on Sundays which is very...

The Earl of Marchmont is one of the fine establishments in my local area, it is the kind of place where you can go to have a quiet nights drink, catch-up with girlfriends or to start a big night off at. My favourite thing about the pub, is the cocktails, as mostly all of them are on their cocktail menu are five pounds. And the one's I've had in the past have been most delicious, tangy and the alcohol subtle enough to not make you swoon, but strong enough tasting so you know that you do have an adults drink in your hand. I've never tried the food, but all the pub...
