My partner and I have been there MANY times. We live close and its very very good pizza. However the only reason I am rating this one star is not because for the pizza or the service. Its the same lovely ladies that we have all the time, beautiful black curly hair, tattoed Italian lady. We've been going for 3 years and this time they just started charging for bottle service it used to be BYOB now we get charged 3 pounds for bringing our own bottle of wine that we already paid 10 for. I can understand some places if you bring your own they'll open it and serve it and continue to refill your glasses. It was none of that, I opened and did everything myself. There was no sign or notification it just appeard on our bill even though we went there 1.5 months ago and it wasn't like that. Why even bother now when we can go to another restuarant and buy wine there for that much? Honestly I love the place. We probably will still go, not as much though and wont be bringing any drinks and we'll go somewhere else if we have tons of friends over for BYOB. It was obviously Brunos idea for this because when I asked about it, the waitress seem ashamed to even admit it.I don't fault her for as she is just doing her job. He could have gotten away with raising the prices of the pizza and no one would have noticed, which he probably would have made just as much and noone would have said anything. BYOB is partly why I love going to the place as not every place does that. All I am saying it definitely kills it...
Read moreNo , the food is average , boring and overpriced some of it courtesy of the local super market , as for the Pizza you can bake better at home , with a bit of time and thought. However I do agree with several other reviewers the service is rude and often incompetent, in this dark and dank place. The staff often go out of their way to be rude and surely . I'm embarrassed since I've brought business clients here . I have noticed the owner is attacking me for having an opinion , so there for I will add some more text , to clarify my position. I most certainly am not a racist. I have opinions and feelings and have voiced them. At no junction either in my edited or original review , did I mention anybody's race or nationality. I think the owner and his staff are more aggrieved by things I said in relation to their personal demeanor and service etiquette. My review might not have been pleasant for them to read , however in today's namby pamby modern Britain its easy for undeserving cases to play the race card. Just as it is for modern day Snowflakes to chime in and support such nonsense. The owners threat of action is dubious as actions can mean a variety of actions , it sounds like a threat. . Likewise the amazingly positive review that cropped up later the same day from an account that has...
Read moreWe absolutely love going to this place. It is without a doubt our favourite Italian in Edinburgh. The staff always greet us with a smile and nothing is too much trouble. The food is amazing, home cooked and good value for money. We visit at least once a week. Having seen the previous xenophobic, ignorant review makes me upset and embarrassed for the regular clientele that this hidden gem of a place has. Stepping in there makes me feel like I am in Italy. If you are not happy with this, there is a chippy just opposite!
To Tony Taylor: I am a genuine regular customer of Bruno's place and I felt so strongly about seeing your hurtful, insulting racist comments that I had to write a review straight away. I saw the initial review where you said you wished Brexit had happened 20 years ago. I was disgusted and also embarrassed for you as your clients may well see this review and see your true colours. I was at Cafe Artista on Sunday evening enjoying a lovely meal and spoke to the very upset staff who had seen your review. If you were that sure of your review you would have not...
