I feel scammed. The four of us wanted a meal different from the typical touristy selection of lamb and haggis, and in a way we got it - except it was nearly inedible. The restaurant has high aspirations given its price tag. And judging by the positive reviews, it delivers to a certain audience. Our family has been lucky to have tried Michelin 3 star restaurants and unique food trucks and everything in between. In that context, this meal was a complete let down. All the ingredients were perfectly fine but they were thrown together without care or consideration. The pretense extended to misuse of fancy culinary words. The first course included what I could have sworn was runoff water from washing tomatoes, but was called consomme. In my experience, great food does not require confusing and misleading patrons. The waitstaff was outright obnoxious. They actually got angry with us for leaving most of the food on the plate for some of the more ridiculous courses. Furthermore, they tried to cheat us by leaving an extra glass of wine on the bill and only came back with a correct bill when they noticed us reviewing it. Speaking of wine, the list looked like it was put together by a person who heard Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and other dangerous words, but didn't know what terroir was. The lack of effort can exemplified by a course that contained labne and apple. Needless to say, the liquid from apple pooled on labne, destroying the strained texture of labne. This showed to me that the kitchen staff never tried their own dishes in real dinner situations where they leave them sitting for a while. The pork was overcooked and dry. I am no chef, but I can make a much better cooked pork loin while talking on conference calls during a work day. And speaking of home cooking, my 13 year old daughter made much better multi course dinners than the embarrassment that was served by Nadair. I would suggest that they go to a cooking school, except that it would not help. They clear lack of attention to quality or respect for customers made for a miserable and wasteful experience. They didn't even have tea, so we ended up walking back to a touristy area to wash away the bad taste with fine...
Read moreI have dined at this restaurant more than three times since it opened in August 2024, and I have never been disappointed. Each visit is a unique experience, as the kitchen skillfully prepares each dish, ensuring that a chicken tastes like chicken, a fish tastes like fish, and a duck tastes like duck. This may sound peculiar, but it reflects the challenge of cooking: to honour the essence of each ingredient while adding harmonious dimensions that elevate the dish without overwhelming it—like an orchestra rather than a parade.
The menu changes frequently, which means that each visit offers an invitation to explore new culinary creations.
During my latest meal, I photographed the dishes: cod, cheese, cherry sorbet, and a delightful honey mousse (though I’m unsure of the exact name). The cod was perfectly cooked, free of any unpleasant fishiness, and paired beautifully with slow-cooked beans and courgette, creating a refreshing combination. The Scottish cheese was a delightful surprise, balancing rich and creamy flavours without being heavy, leaving you wanting more—an after-meal treat that feels anything but redundant. The sorbet, perfectly suited to the July-August season, provided a refreshing contrast to the dark chocolate.
The wine selection is thoughtfully curated, and the staffs are always eager to share their expertise on the offerings.
My wife, my sister, and I have consistently received exceptional hospitality, which showcases the dedication of the kitchen and front-of-house teams—from sourcing the ingredients to presenting them on our plates.
While I hesitate to overuse the term "delicious," I believe that the experiences I’ve shared, along with the accompanying photographs, serve as a strong recommendation for this restaurant.
The lunch course is quite decent in terms of value and quality. £25 for 2 courses £30 for 3 courses.
While the dinner may appear slightly pricier, £65 for 5 courses, for such exquisite delicacies are very reasonable. You won't find food of this calibre at such a price in Edinburgh. The service certainly merits higher...

Incredibly warm welcome, fantastic service from start to finish. Both Marcus and Josie were super attentive and passionate about the experience of the set menu - explaining each part either about the ingredients to the food or to the wine pairing with it (which I highly recommend). My personal highlight was a wonderful red, which was one of 2000 bottles(!) for that weeks menu. Paired with the food which is a work of art and a wonderful amalgamation of ingredients to really enjoy in the mouth. The small details from the fab decor to the card stock used for the menu you know you’re somewhere where they care about what they’re doing, and it really shows through in the experience - not common nowadays. Sarah and Alan who are the owners also helped service and delivered some of the dishes, this is such a nice touch as they both work together to assemble the whole menu and it added a personal touch for me as a customer and their passion in what they are doing really comes through. The cocktails which you can order outside of the set menu are really worth a try too, I’ve never had such good cocktails while out in Edinburgh. Having been to some of the best restaurants from Geneva to Paris, this one has the making of all those and it’s on my doorstep.
5 stars across the board, I’ll for sure be back to this wonderful intimate restaurant and recommend for anyone to go and...
