Mia Italian Kitchen Dalry — Restaurant in City of Edinburgh

I give 2 star only because the food it’s delicious. Went there today because I always enjoy their risotto when I order it on deliveroo. We were welcomed by a male waiter that told us “take a sit” so I answered “oh can we sit wherever we want?” (In a normal restaurant you will be walked to the table) just to be answered “Hahah no you’re 2 people so this two table here” I decided where to sit and he added “no sit here there is more space” (so why are you telling me to choose a table when you’re going to tell me where to sit?) The rest of the service was less than the expectations of the most disgusting restaurant you can think of. Glasses were dirty, when he brought the cheese for our risotto he literally threw it! When he then came and collect our plates he went “ooooh you finished all of it” what do you expect me to do? Pay for a risotto and leave it on the plate? Then at the moment of the bill instead of placing the plate on the middle or at least (as many restaurants do) give the bill to the man he was literally pushing it against me! Service it’s the first and important thing in a restaurant and here service it’s below 0. I’ve visited Mia’s I’ve lost count how many timesalways had great service food amazing!!so returned for my granddaughter 16th on 24 th Nov booked for 12 people no problem told them I had myideal vouchers yes that’s fine arrived to be told sorry no vouchers today as the rugby is on I said oh I wasn’t told that when booked to be told it’s in the small print !!!cldnt find this either could my daughter eventually said we will honour them today but not again!!!resturant was empty rugby had started at 1.40 this was now 2pm…Thento be told kids meals are not in the deal with voucher I said that’s strange I’ve been here few times with kids used vouchers nvr been a problem only thing in small print kids need to be with adults which they were!! Made us feel very uncomfortable which I’ve nvr experienced before that’s why I always reccomend and use this place a lot..restaurant was empty so 12 people is good business!!!I asked if they had a lighter to light some candles on the cake sorry no we don’t we don’t have a lighter to light candles a member of our party had one so was fine… I felt like we were not made welcome this place has always had great service that is why we chose to have birthday meal there…myself and my daughter were a bit deflated with the actions on the day…plus £25 service charge on the bill...

Veggies: note at end! Before reading please note, I visited several times 2019 and was impressed However, I visited recently on a date. Our table was less than a metre from neighbours on either side. We picked our entrée and mains (foccacia to share, then bolognese and pizza). Waiter came to take our order after 10 minutes: "before you order, we have no foccacia and no pizza". Great! We forfeited our entrée, my date could still have his bolognese but I had to scramble to re-choose. Ended up picking a "vegetarian" risotto... Which, I can't say for certain, but tasted a lot like parmesan. Additionally, when I asked for my receipt after paying, the waiter (face mask under nose) leaned right over me, even after I leaned back, to inform me that I should keep my receipt safe as it has my card details on it. At risk of being dramatic, I felt I was being mansplained to, which I did not appreciate, along with the intrusion into my personal space which would not have been appropriate even in non-covid times. Non-specifically, the chef was wearing his mask under his chin and we heard coughing in the kitchen... Make of that what you will. VEGGIES. Beware the menu! Many "veggie" dishes contain parmesan!
