Turned up last night (02/05/13) after booking for 6, table not ready, waitress seemed surprised at our arrival! Ordered food, starters very good, main course, one order for pizza was wrong, told we cannot have another one as they had run out!!! was offered to order from menu as alternative. Mains very good, service was lacking throughout, had to ask for bowls to put the mussel shells in, side orders arrived with no way of serving them, had to again ask for cutlery, waitress seemed annoyed at out presence!!! half past 9 lights came on and we came under pressure to leave!!! we had just finished our main course and still had drinks, ended up having to take our half finished bottles of wine with us. Piatto Verde is 100% my local haunt. Ever since my husband and I discovered this charming, authentic, tiny wee Italian joint we have been back (usually dragging friends along) at every given opportunity! The food is always amazing--my personal favorite is the Funghi e Ricotta Spaghetti which is the closest I've gotten to food nirvana. Couple your meal with a carafe of house wine, then at the end treat yoself to some profiteroles which to my mind are the best in town! You'll be even more impressed after your meal by how reasonable the prices are. If the food, prices, and cute interior didn't do it, the relaxed friendliness of the wait staff should. Seriously, give this place a go, and don't be surprised if you see me...

This is my "go to" restaurant. If there's a celebration, a birthday, a just because a rugby match anything at all really. It is relaxed, welcoming and the food is brilliant and the house wine staggeringly inexpensive. Massimo is a genius in the kitchen. The service can be a bit hit or miss depending on the waitress, but it is usually very good. They occasionally run out of things, but this is again forgivable as the price is low and the quality high. It is intimate, cosy and did I mention the food...
