Went in, really hungry, gave it a try, walked in, it stank and it's sir con needs cleaned. I was asked what I wanted, said a toastie, the easiest thing in the world to make, and was told they were too busy to make toasties, even though two staff are on and there was one customer in the cafe who had just ordered the biggest breakfast, so they can make a full breakfast, but can't put some cheese on bread. His excuse was they have deliveries so they obviously put them first. The guy was rude and the place is dirty and stinks, literally. Should rename it, waste of time and no food. the guy also looked dirty with his long hair all over the place, and it looked greasier thsn the sausages. He also made a comment about me as I left under his breath.lol too busy to put some cheese on bread and in the grill but not too busy to plate up a full cooked breakfast. The decor is awful and It just didn't look clean. I don't expect wytchery levels of food and service but to be turned away for such a simple thing is a disgrace. Go to cj's in dalry 10 times better. Clean. Nice staff, dog friendly actual space to swing a cat and you don't get turned away coz the staff can't be bothered. He said it was because of deliveries....so what? Other places manage, I would've waited, another place that put deliveroo b4 actual customers. They get more money for deliveries. So I went justbl down the rd into a nice clean cafe, lovely staff, no horrible grease smell coz of blackend air con. Had a lovely all day breakfast and a decent latte. When I told them about quick and plenty they laughed said how pathetic it was and that would never happen there. It's just not good service. If they didn't have the ingredients, or where snowed under with 1 staff member I'd get it. But they just couldn't be bothered. I heard him as I left insult me to I assume his partner, who was burning everything. I'm actually glad as I feel that kinda place is where you get covid or food poisoning. They should have it on the menu COVID with a side of salmonella, It definitely would be quick and plenty lol. I know other people like it. But for my 1st, only and last try. I'd avoid like the COVID in their kitchen.....if they can't keep up they need to take less deliveries, cut the menu down and stop making false promises.puts the greasy in spoon....

If you're in Edinburgh and you haven't checked out Johnathan's Cafe, you're seriously missing out! This place is an absolute must-visit if you want the ultimate Haggis and Tatties experience. And guess what? You even get to meet the man himself, Johnathan! He's such a friendly dude and made us feel right at home.

Sure, the cafe is small, but who cares? It has 100 years of history, and the real magic here is the incredible Scottish hospitality you'll feel. We ended up going to this place twice during our time in Edinburgh, and both times Johnathan surprised us with complimentary dishes and sweets to give us a real taste of Scotland. Seriously, the Haggis and brown sauce were out of this world! But the dish that really blew our minds was the combination of Haggis, hashbrown and cheese. It was pure foodgasm!

I can't stress this enough, you HAVE to go to this place. Johnathan's Cafe not only serves amazing food but also captures the spirit of Edinburgh. So, do yourself a favor and make sure to swing by. Trust me, you...

Quick & Plenty Cafe truly felt like the most authentic Scottish dining experience we went to during our trip. Based on the environment, it was reassuring to figure out that this is probably where the locals eat. It definitely has hole in the wall vibes, but any casual foodie would know that’s where you find the best food. Johnny was friendly, welcoming, and funny, he even gave us a caramel shortbread on the house while we waited for our food (and it was delicious). After we got our food we stopped by a cafe for coffee and the barista commented on how good our takeout boxes smelled haha. I was really happy with how much food was included in the small breakfast, I have a small stomach but it still felt like a pretty big breakfast to me so the value was great. Unfortunately we were leaving the next day but I would’ve loved to try lunch foods...

The Quick and Plenty on Leven Street Tollcross Edinburgh is just that. I had the Quickand Plenty Scottish Breakfast experience priced at an amazing £8 quid, which came with a lovely cup of tea and a buttered roll, the Breakfast itself came with all the usual suspects, Black Pudding,Haggis,Link Sausage,Lorne Sausage,Bacon and Beans, the star of the show was very nice Bacon 🥓 having said that I thought the whole plate was well presented and tasted BRAW. The cafe has been on Leven Street for many years and has always been a stop for lots of returning customers, Johnny has done his mother well in keeping with tradition and ensuring this place has its name in the history of Edinburgh. It's definitely a place to catch a quick bite if you're in the area. STB.
