After exploring Edinburgh castle, we were impressed with the food selection and service we reccieved at the Redcoat Cafe. There was a vast selection of pizza, sandwiches, salads, drinks, desserts and other snack. Everyone was friendly and service was quick. I enjoyed a luxurious hot chocolate, a pizza and greek salad. The food tasted good, was a good size and at a reasonable price. The place was spacious, well decorated and had great views. Overall, a great place to eat.

I had a wonderful lunch here for a more than fair price. The cafe was clean and the staff was very friendly. They have a nice selection of mains, pizza, cakes and other baked goods and drinks. The views from the windows are very nice. It is a good place to begin or end your trip to the castle or perhaps a midway pick me up or cake and tea!

I didn't mind that food was basic and a bit pricey and but I had a bad experience there. Ordered lunch and drink for a party of 8 people and 5 hot chocolate with marshmallows on top, for my friend and our 4 kids and paid at the counter. It was a very cold and rainy day ( 2/4/18) so the queue was long and I didn't mind waiting. The staff who made my drink is named GINKA (As on her badge). She asked me for a few times what was I waiting to collect and I told her at least 3 times I was still waiting for 5 hot chocolate with marshmallows on top. After 15 minutes waiting she showed me 4 tiny cups of plain hot chocolate and said she was making the last cup for me. I asked her I would like the marshmallow on top and she smirked at me and said : "lady, you have to pay for it!" I said "I did" and showed her the receipt. She did not say anything but scattered a tiny amount of marshmallows on each cup. Then she brought the last cup without any marshmallow and when she saw that I was still standing there waiting, she said there were already marshmallows in it. It turned out she put the marshmallow inside the cup then poured the hot chocolate on top ( really???!!!). I was boiling I could not care less about the drink (of course the kids were upset as their drinks were horrible) but I asked myself is that the way you treat customers in one of the main attraction of Edinburgh? With no respect? Uh oh! If it was another time I would have asked for the manager and had a chat with them but I did not make a fuss as there was a long queue behind me. I hope somebody will read this and rectify the problem. You should know who you are hiring to serve your customers and keep an...

The food is okay. However the cashier needs to check her manners. We were taken by the first cashier and she asked us if we wanted to pay cash or by card. We replied by cash and were shown to the right register. We greeted the cashier 3 times before she even looked at us, asked her if we could pay cash. She responded by checking our items and not speaking to us. When she was finished she told us to scan our card (??). We asked her again if this was the cash register to which she rudely replied that we could only pay cash if we had the exact amount. At this point my husband asked why she told us that this was the cash register if we couldn’t pay cash. He asked her 2 times, and she only answered by telling him that she would remove us from the cafe if he continued being rude. Never in my life have I seen such rude and unprofessional behavior. We ended up paying 22,60 £ for a sandwich, a bowl of soup, 2 bottles of water ( and a hot cocoa we never received but were...

Very disappointed, you collect your food first, pay and order drinks. Having to wait for drinks to be made with a queue of approx 10-12 people, food goes cold,my partner had to queue for the drinks once he had ate so I could have my food warm. Once we received out 'hot' drinks they were intact luke warm 🤦‍♀️ I approached a staff member and informed her of this and she told me she would replace them. We waited 10 minutes and no drinks so I asked to speak to the manager. After speaking to him he gave me a refund and also agreed that the cafe was not efficient and was not well run. He told me that he had informed his manager but nothing had changed. He was apologising profusely for the state of the place. Multiple tables dirty and not cleared, not enough staff on to manage the numbers, although the girl who served us was friendly-this was the only positive. Very poorly thought through, not efficient in any way at all Wouldn't...
