Sicilian Pastry Shop — Restaurant in City of Edinburgh

Staff being arrogant and ignore you. We came into the store to collect a cake we ordered online, standing at the shop floor for 5 minutes with nobody serving us. A lady would stand aside to see how they decorated a cake (not my cake, and she noticed me when I came in) rather than serving us. After we said hello to the staff for twice, finally someone came to ask what we need. By the way, she was chatting with another statf. Saw us came into the shop but just choose to ignore. After our cake was took out of the fridge, it was left there for 5 minutes and the cream was melting. The customer came after us were all served and they just ignored us again. After we complained about this, they pretended to apologize but actually they are finding excuses for themselves. I heard three different versions of why the cake was left there and nobody was aware of what’s going on. And they manager tried to end the conversation by saying they are busy which means we are interrupting their business. Now you know the shop is busy and you need to serve customers? Then when we were left there, why you don’t know that? If you really put that much effort in this shop as you’ve said, then the customer service won’t be this bad. The staff we complained about were actually laughing at us in the kitchen when we were trying to make the complain. I left the shop without saying more is only because I wanted to end the conversation quick cause the staff and manager actually refused to communicate, when you pointed out your view politely, they will find thousands of excuses for that. We did not request a high standard service, our only request is to be aware of what’s going on with our order and a simple apology or an explanation of why the cake is still being decorated and left there for 5 minutes. And to the staff who were trying to make excuses for another staff by saying “she’s just a young girl”. Me as a very young girl used to work as a sale associate part time, when this was happening I would always came to customers explain to them and thank s for their patience and they will always understand and thank us for what we did. I have friends who are young girls but they are still doing their very very best in their area. I don’t know what’s going on in here, probably the very basic standard of a sales is too hard for a young girl. Staffs are paid for this role and this is their responsibility, if you don’t want to do it, just quit is easier than making different excuses. I know young girls’ challenges as we might be rookies and we can make mistakes and feel stressful. But I’m not sure it is proper or not for a young girl who is facing challenges from workplace who just wanted to order a cake to celebrate her graduation and cheer herself up being treated like this and...

Love this place. Can’t believe how reasonably priced the treats are. I ordered 9 donuts for polish donut day and it only came to £10 - unbelievable! Can’t think of anywhere else that is cheaper than that. As you can see from the pics they aren’t small either. They also tasted amazing. More of a bread like texture than your normal donuts with nice flavour. I also had a pistachio cannoli which was delicious. Everything is so fresh and authentic. I am only giving 4 stars for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I like to be strict with my scores so try and not dish out 5s all the time. The only obvious fault that I can give is for the collection of the donuts. I placed my order and paid for my donuts over the phone to be at the neighbouring shop because I didn’t think I would get there in time before the shop closed. I was very appreciative that they were going to offer this service to me. However, I was able to get to the shop earlier than anticipated and the shop was still open when I arrived. It took them awhile to find my order but when they did it wasn’t prepared. So they had to quickly put a box together for me. Thankfully, I arrived early or else I likely wouldn’t have got my donuts from the shop next door. I purposely asked for 1 of each donut (9 in total) and they said that the only missing one was the original sugar donut. I was fine with that but when I opened the box, and as you can see from the pic, there was a few duplicates which shows that I never got all 9. I know, it’s not the end of the world, and I may be being picky, but it’s the small details that make a difference. Overall, the slight negative didn’t drastically hinder my experience (just minus a star😉). Will 100% be back.

AMAZING! If you need a birthday 🍰, look no further. Freshly baked cake will be so delicious that it will disappear into your and your guests bellies in minutes.

If you want to treat yourself with 🥐🍩🧁 or cannoli, this is just the right place. They are so good you will start craving for more after eating one. Btw, the cannoli in particular is highly recommend and rivals the ones you could get only in Sicily.

Finally, if you want good value lunch option, this is also your choice. Freshly prepared and grilled 🥪 or mini rolled pizzas are just the carbs filled option you need to get you energised for a productive afternoon.

P.S. it always gets me when the super helpful and polite staffs tells me that they hope I will enjoy the goodies. There is no need to hope 😄, when you buy your treats here, you know that these will always be fresh, good value and...
