The motivation for making Sunday the day he stopped instead of walking past was that the other half had just spent 28 hours on a coach and could only muster the energy to make it to the end of the road. Word of Mouth is, moreover, one of the better reviewed small cafes in Edinburgh and the place was packed. ********************************** Breakdown: 👩🏼🍳Taste 4/5 - Headlined by the waffles, the smoked salmon and the coffee. Smoked salmon can often provoke scepticism but this was good quality and very tasty. The coffee was strong and dark, and the waffles were sweet and soft. We were both very happy. 👀Presentation 3/5 - Totally fine. Nothing remarkable, nothing unattractive. Definition of a 3/5 🌟Vibe 4/5 - Word of Mouth treads that line between madness and excitement. It is a very small space with lots of hungry customers, so at times it was a bit overwhelming. But the waiters were friendly and the service good. It picks up a late extra mark for a very in depth bit of cricket chat with a Bangladeshi waiter as we paid our bill. We’re both fans of Mahmudullah, neither of us like Dinesh Karthik.

It is a great place to have breakfast. I highly recommend the benefic eggs or any of the sandwiches but my favourite is the croquet Monsieur: ESPECTACULAR!!!. The owner is very friendly and talktive and he has always good stories to told you. It is too busy, so you might have to wait a bit, but you know what? It's worthwhile 😙👌🌟💖 (Even if is raining tho) So please, stop reading the review, get out and go to the Word of mouth in my wonderful Leith! Follow me for more reviews at @jand_franco! Besitos!!!

Really good little cafe a little bit out the city centre. Had a wonderful mocha and waffles. Boyfriend had what he describes as "the best americano ever" and bought a bag to take home. Service was quick and friendly. My boyfriend spoke to the guy behind the counter who said they roast all their own beans fresh, and handpick the ones they sell. Also when buying beans they try to guess what you like judging by personality and what you order. Very interesting little cafe that I highly recommend.

Fantastic place! It’s opening on 8:30 and when we arrived around 8:40 there were already a few people inside. Seems like local customers love a quick chat with the owner and cup of coffee to go before work. And if you fancy good coffee that’s a place for you. Plenty of seeds to choose from. Reasonable prices, quick service and there’s something about this place that it can be described as a place with soul. Thanks for the breakfast!

PREFECT PLACE TO GET BREAKFAST ANYTIME The great thing about this cafe, is you are able to get breakfast all day. So for late risers who also want to enjoy a full English breakfast this is the place. FULL ENGLISH The full English is pretty good. More beans would have been nice but other than that it has everything required. If you order a smoothie, be prepared to hear the crazy loud sounds from the blender. It's so loud!

Great choice for a meal on Leith Walk with surprisingly low prices compared to Edinburgh averages (still in the single digits for most of them). Portion sizes vary depending on your choice; for example, the Eggs Benedict portion is on the smaller side, while the Croque Madame is significantly larger in comparison. It's definitely worth a visit, but make sure to wear something light, as it can get very warm in some cases.
