My family is staying in the Newington neighborhood while visiting Edinburgh, and we happened across Tapas3 while out for a walk. We love the tapas experience, and Spanish food in general, so we decided to give it a try! We could not have been more impressed with our experience, from start to finish. We ordered sangria by the pitcher, and it was absolutely incredible, cold and fresh, and loaded with delicious fresh fruit. We shared a number of dishes, and our favorites were the pimientos padrons, a delicious flash fried pepper, drizzled in olive oil and sprinkled with sea salt, the cod croquettes, the patatas bravas, the artisanal bread with oil and balsamic, and the montedito, a zucchini/goat cheese/fig jam dish that was a show stealer!!! We loved this place so much.. the food was the best I’ve had in so long, and the service was just amazing. Friendly and prompt, great pricing.. would 100% recommend and return!!!!!

Was here with friends on an early-ish Saturday evening. I think we had one of the last tables without booking. Pleasant atmosphere. There's a dedicated vegetarian section on the menu, but if you're allergic to aubergines like me, it can get very potato heavy. One of my orders was the omelette, which turned out to be half potato. Wish I knew beforehand as I ended up having two potato dishes! Service was mostly friendly and engaging, but they have a tendency to remove plates from the table at speed. I wanted to keep the sauce from the omelette for the rest of the potatoes, but the waitstaff just swifted in and took it away. Note: if you're not an actual big eater like me, you might want to start with 2 plates first, then decide if you'll want a third. A couple of my friends had 4 (even though the waitstaff kindly advised the above), and they ended up being super full.

I only have praise for this restaurant. Their tapas are second to none: great taste, perfect portions and reasonable price. I go there often for solo dinner and also with friends and Tapas3 never disappoint. The food is super tasty and the staff is friendly and make good recommendations both on food and drinks. I've added a picture of my favourite dish but there are lots other wonderdul tapas to choose from. Also, I love sitting in their outdoor area, which is perfect to catch the sun while enjoying a drink in a clear day. If you are lucky, you may catch a flamenco show next door on a Friday evening and also if you visit during the Fringe festival. All in all, this is an excellent family run restaurant. PS for people visiting from abroad, staff is multilingual, which is a bonus not many places offer in Edinburgh.

We were a large group of 29 visiting Tapas 3 for dinner and drinks. We had all paid a deposit of £10 before arrival and were to pay a balance of £20 at the end of the meal. An additional charge for a tip was added on to each meal so it ended up being £24 each at the end of the meal. An additional charge that we were not made aware of. 7 of us paid by cash totaling, £168, we gave £170, we paid a member of staff at the till, this £170 was stolen by the staff.

As each person paid, we were asked to leave "to avoid confusion". The last person to attempt to leave was my aunt, her way was barred by an angry member of the kitchen staff, this was pretty intimidating. She was told that we had underpaid by £170 and that she was not allowed to leave until she paid, so of course she paid thinking that it was the right thing to do. She was not allowed to go upstairs to speak with the rest of our group to clarify the misunderstanding.

When we as a group spoke about it later, my aunt realised that the amount that we paid in cash did not show on the ipad that she was shown. We have contacted the owners, they have provided only a basic receipt to us, they have not listed all food and drinks purchased to reference against what was paid. They have told us that no cash was paid at the till. They have told us that they have reviewed the footage from that night but have not shown it to us. WE DID PAY £170 IN CASH. We believe that a member of staff took this money. An extra sting seen as we had to pay them an additional £116 as a statuary tip. The owners have basically told us that it is our problem and that there is nothing that they can do.

This is an absolute disgrace, horrible thieving staff and horrible owners

response to owner Several attempts were made on our part to sort this out privately, several. We were not provided with a full breakdown for us to match the purchases to payments. My own mother paid the £170 in cash at the till, which you said yourself was not there at the end of the night. So where did it go? After several attempts to figure it out with you, you told my aunt that she had to "foot the bill" herself. We have not resorted to unfounded accusations on a public forum, we are telling the truth of what happened after you stopped responding to our...

We attended as a group of 7 and paid £25 per person for their tasting menu. And I will start by saying the food was delicious and the service was fine. I wouldn't call it super attentive but it was fine.

Before booking I was in touch with the restaurant and asked if the tasting menu would be enough food for the size of the group, I was assured that no other group had asked for more food and it would definitely be enough!

I can promise you now it will not be enough food for a group of this size. We received tapas for 4 in reality. At one point we had the hilarious task of sharing 3 meatballs between 7! The topper was the 2 slices of aubergine to share between us, what a joke! We all left hungry and I felt cheated. Also embarrassed that I had organised to bring my friends here.

I later wrote to the owner with our concerns, who replied that 'maybe tapas wasn't for us' and that we should have simply asked for more food. If that was the case then we would have had an even larger bill, and I wouldn't have booked here in the first place knowing the cost of leaving with a full belly, god forbid.

The owner in response has offered us a bottle of wine which will likely cost them around £4, and certainly does not fix the problem. I am not demanding money back from them I had just hoped they would understand we really did not get what we paid for. I do hope they will adjust their portion sizes for future group bookings.

I have been to many tapas restaurants in Edinburgh and this is the only place I left feeling hungry and...

I've been here three times in a month! There aren't that many Spanish restaurants and it was great to discover this one.

The food is really lovely -- fresh, tasty, and a decent selection (the menu isn't huge but I like that they focus on making everything as good as possible). I especially like the cod croquettes, the grilled peppers, the pork cheeks and the cold meat/cheese platter. The only disappointing dish for me (and I've tried like 20, I'm not kidding) was the aubergine -- I expected quite a lot from the description but it just didn't really do much for me.

Service - knowledgable and friendly staff, making for a relaxed time.

Atmosphere -- it's a small place but well laid out so it doesn't feel congested. Simple but effective, and I like that you can see the kitchen/bar as they prepare things. Hard to believe they do such nice food from such a tiny kitchen actually!

One little complaint: I booked lunch for a week's time and when I turned up, they'd gotten rid of their lunch deal. It was kind of the reason I had booked lunch in the first place. In the end it cost me about £40 instead of £30 (for two people) so not a huge problem but I wish they had the lunch deal (or maybe noticed that I'd booked when it existed and honoured that, but I get it.)

I'll certainly be...
