My family and I visited Thai Express Kitchen on 26th September around 8:08 PM, and unfortunately, the service was very disappointing.
We were seated outside and left without being greeted or given menus for at least 5–8 minutes. If staff don’t intend to serve outdoor seating, why offer it in the first place?
After asking a staff member (a lady with a red hair clip) for menus, no action was taken. Eventually, I went inside to request them, and a male staff member (wearing New Balance shoes) was extremely rude. Instead of apologising for the delay, he dismissed me with “Ah? What…3 menus?” while looking at me with disrespect.
Service continued to be unprofessional and inattentive. Orders were taken abruptly, and then staff disappeared, leaving us waiting another 10 minutes.
To be fair, one staff member — a young Chinese lady — was very respectful, professional, and took our order kindly. Thanks to her, our meals arrived, and the food was good. However, when I later attempted to order dessert, I experienced yet another unpleasant interaction with the same male staff member with the newbalance shoe. He yelled across the restaurant, calling out “HELLO, EXCUSE ME” repeatedly, which was embarrassing and unnecessary. Instead of assisting, he told me to walk over to the young lady myself because “she knows better.” This kind of behavior is unprofessional, disrespectful, and unacceptable.
I have worked as a shift manager in the food industry myself, and I understand the pressures of service. But basic courtesy, professionalism, and respect for customers should never be compromised.
This experience was embarrassing, unwelcoming, and not what any customer should have to face. While I am grateful for the kind service from the young Chinese lady, I cannot overlook the unacceptable behavior of other staff.
Maybe this is one negative in a million experiences, but it was enough to make us feel disrespected as customers. I sincerely hope management invests in training staff to treat all customers equally and with respect. Unfortunately, based on this visit, I would not...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing place! Very tasty and delicious food 😋 Chilled atmosphere, especially in the booths where you can have more private time, perfect place for a birthday or a romantic dinner. We booked a table online and they provided free prawn crackers with sauce, very pleasant surprise ☺️ One of us had a birthday on that day, which I only mentioned in the notes when booking a table and didn't expect anything to happen, but in the end of our dinner they brought a bowl of ice cream with a candle in it 🍨🕯️🎉 The staff was super friendly and polite, for this kind of service they definitely deserve extra tips! We only tried two types of noodles, will definitely come back again to try everything else on the menu 😋 The only thing was location, initially a bit confusing to find this place as on the map it was showing outside, only when you read full address it tells that it's located in St James Center. So you enter through the main large entrance (from the side where Leith joins Princess Street) then go one floor down the escalator to Level 1, then go around behind that escalator and you will see the restaurant as on the picture attached. Have a...
Read moreI've been here a few times now and overall it's a good place to eat, with some downsides
Food - on the whole, most of their dishes are good. Everything is Halal, which is great. The dishes feel like they aren't fully authentic, the spices feel toned down for instance (even if you request spicy). I wouldn't recommend the red curry as its nothing like what you'd expect. It's more a creamy, coconut milk based curry which lacks the traits of a red curry. I even had to ask the waiter to make sure they gave me the right curry. Portion sizes vary but generally are pretty reasonable
Service - the staff are definitely friendly but the service can sometimes be slow. The service has felt a little disorganised each time we've gone, with the service being sporadic and inconsistent. On one visit, they forgot entirely about a dish that we ordered and cooked everything else
Price - it is a little on the expensive side, even considering its central location. They don't accept cash which is...
