The Powder Room — a pun on the nearby Powderhall district — is potentially a cute place for date. They make pizza on the premises, serve cocktails, and sometimes have some decent live music. The downside is it’s not really for beer drinkers, in spite of best attempts and claims to the contrary — unless you are a fan of Pilot beer (They also have Guinness and Tennents lager on tap but that’s about it). I tried a couple of the Pilot draughts on offer but ended up going to nearby O’Connors, which serves proper beer. The friendly bar stocks local beer and lager, especially from nearby Pilot. There's a collection of spirits as well but this is no cocktail lounge.
There are snacks to munch and a history of popular pub quizzes from the days of the Dog.

They’re always hosting local/seasonal events like pumpkin carving during Halloween or Valentines love song sing-alongs.
