Wash Bar — Restaurant in City of Edinburgh

Edinburgh has many bars, the ones on the main tourist thoroughfares can be considerably more expensive and pretentious, The Wash Bar is not one of these. Reasonable prices and good fare from normal staff who aren't just about for three months. Great up stairs area, nicely located in Old City looking over New City, perfect place to escape the rain. If you aren't from Europe you'll appreciate that tables are spacious and the atmosphere isn't constructed. When it's sunny a few tables outside on a thirty degree sloping hill remind you just how bizarre life in Edinburgh can be ... any measure for a bit of sun, hey. Was in and, for an hour were the only folk in the place - other places we were in had customers in. Beer tasted off and it was vastly over priced. Looks like it was decorated in the 90s and not touched since, including the kitsch fish tank halfway up the stairs with water in it darker than a Guinness. We only went in here to tick it off the list of pubs we'd been to in Edinburgh, but it was genuinely awful in every sense. Me and my partner visited here after a meal out in Edinburgh whilst away for the weekend! Although rather quiet being a weekday the bar staff were super friendly, the drinks were a good price and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere!!! Once we arrived home we realised we had left one of our shopping bags at the pub the evening we visited!
