Edinburgh has many bars, the ones on the main tourist thoroughfares can be considerably more expensive and pretentious, The Wash Bar is not one of these. Reasonable prices and good fare from normal staff who aren't just about for three months. Great up stairs area, nicely located in Old City looking over New City, perfect place to escape the rain. If you aren't from Europe you'll appreciate that tables are spacious and the atmosphere isn't constructed. Looks like it was decorated in the 90s and not touched since, including the kitsch fish tank halfway up the stairs with water in it darker than a Guinness.
