Subway — Restaurant in Clifton Without

I very rarely leave reviews, and have not had a subway sandwich, in years. Thought I would try one today. What a mistake. First, the lady who made my sandwich was wearing gloves 3 sizes bigger, which made getting the sliced cheese very difficult. She then forgot to put in the streaky bacon. She then cut the bread in such a way that half filling could not fit in. She than wrapped the sandwich so loosely that it was impossible to eat, as a sandwich. It was more like a bagel with stuff piled on top.

The clincher. I got a foot long and asked if i could have it divided into two six inches and wrapped separately. The lady smiles and says yes, but does not do it. Worst of all, she didn't wrapp the bottom of the paper, so as I was eating one half, the other half fell on the floor. The lady who served me was lovely, but utterly clueless.

I binned the rest of the sub, as it was impossible to eat. I thanked them, refused the offer of another sandwich and left.If those are their sandwich making skills and if they are happy to charge money for such substandard garbage, I dare not think what their food hygiene is like. The staff seems polite enough but not very good at making sandwiches. I blame the management on this one.

Do yourself a favour and stay away. 8 pounds literally...

Hubby and I stopped here for a bite to eat before driving home after a day out. It’s early evening in October and so it was starting to get dark and we were using Google Maps for directions but we still drove past it the first time! It’s very hard to see!

It sounds bizarre because it’s right on a corner but the Subway sign wasn’t lit up on either facade, and the lights from inside were so dim it looked closed!

The car park was empty too which didn’t help.

Once we parked up and went in we realised that the big windows are mirrored from the inside which massively cuts down the light visible from outside - that’s why it looked closed!

Anyway, I have to say we were greeted by both staff with a big smile and a friendly welcome, which was great :)

It was very welcoming and they were chatty and friendly whilst still being efficient preparing our food.

We each chose the Fine Catch tuna salad and it was really good! A great portion!

There were a few other people in after us so obviously regulars don’t have any trouble finding it :)

The restaurant was very clean and the staff were friendly as we left too.

Please ask Head Office to put bulbs in your outdoor Subway signs though - you might pick up some...

Turned up at 19.00 ordered my sub. The young lad asked if I wanted anything else’s I asked for a coffee he said no the coffee machine had been cleaned. So I said well I want the meal deal and I don’t want a cold drink I could see it was still on so mention this and he said we ain’t allowed to touch it once cleaned I replied why would you shut it off a hour before closing? Well we actually turn it off at 18.00. Looking confused at the fact they stop serving coffee 2 hours before closing so I said well I don’t want my sandwich then if I can’t have a meal deal. He stormed in the back like a sulking toddler so I walked out! Your loss not mine. The eating in part shuts at 18.30 too! My experience rude staff, offering things from the menu that they can’t fulfil, if you want to eat in go to a proper restaurant and save your money. McDonald’s down the road!
