Thai Emerald Cirencester — Restaurant in Cotswold District

The food itself was quite tasty – the chicken cooked with Thai basil and fresh chillies was delicious and the green curry was fragrant with coconut milk and fresh Thai basil. However, the service completely soured what should have been an enjoyable dinner.

Our waiters were shockingly grumpy throughout the evening. They slammed plates down on the table without a word. When we asked questions about the menu or made modifications to our order, they seemed annoyed.

Worst of all, they made several mistakes with our order but refused to apologize or even crack a smile when we pointed out the incorrect dishes. The wrong items just sat there getting cold while we waited and waited for replacements.

When we asked one waitress for some chilli oil, she said they’d run out. Guessing she was just being lazy, we asked another who brought it, albeit without any enthusiasm whatsoever.

No matter how we approached them politely, they remained miserable.

It's truly too bad because the food at this Thai restaurant is quite good. However, I cannot recommend it due to the unacceptable service. The owners need to do some training with the wait staff on basic etiquette and customer satisfaction. Until major changes are made, I'll be taking my Thai food...

Meat spring roll served on a vegan order!!

Having had a takeaway from here which was good we decided to go for dinner.

We were impressed that they had a vegan menu so decided to order from it, this is where the restaurant has let it's self down unfortunately.

If you are doing vegan you have to be 100% dedicated to this option, cook everything separately so you don't put meat filled spring rolls on a non meat order? We made the staff aware & they did take the starter off of the bill but they didn't really seem to grasp the seriousness of the issue! In this instance it wasn't a serious risk to health, but these sorts of mistakes can have much bigger consequences!

The main was also very poor, both our Curry's were watery with very little substance to them, a few florets of veg and a couple of slices of potato & the sticky rice was like goop!

Family meal (Cirencester) we were very much looking forward too and the food was very disappointing and below expected standard for the price. I have been coming to this restaurant for years and I will not return unless they improve the cooking. The Pad Thai was covered in sugary sauce in soggy noodles and the green curry had tasteless chicken with minimal veg. We told staff the food was not as good as it was in the nicest way we could but according to a member of staff no one else had complained that evening so it was shrugged off.
