Absolutely fantastic little pub. The barmaid that was working when we were there was wonderful: very cheerful and polite and provided great service. The pub is quite small with a front bar and a lounge in the back. The pub was very clean and tidy. There was a fire in the lounge and what looked like an air conditioner as well for the summer months. Traditional pub which has not changed much since I went in with my father in the 80s. He worked at British Rail, and this was the pub he would occasionally visit. When he was terminally ill, I would join him at The Plough. I revisited the pub with a friend for a Quiz night, and the atmosphere was fab. Easy to see why this is a Good Beer Guide CAMRA 2023 pub. Proper town centre two room pub with an older cliental opposite the station.
