Can’t honestly review the food but I am not into pizza and usually pop by in the day so the oven is never on. I have been in half a dozen times , over maybe 12 years , each time I go back to check if I get a more pleasant reception or acknowledged as a return customer,but I absolutely don’t.I try to support local pubs but the look I get even though I am usually on my own, from the lady there speaks volumes. I even perused all the local pics on the wall from local artists, of which I know many of the buildings and boats and the owners and boatmen over 18+ years but zero interest , even from the few ‘regulars’. She (or they) have never once been warm,or even vaguely engage,silent suspicion &barely eye contact.It’s a pub not a treasury and not many punters.I am a customer & human being. Beer garden is fantastic with plenty of places to hide Easter Eggs.Regrettably unable to comment on the burgers as we arrived too late. Good selection of music too. As we fully intend to rent the house in Nelson Street again, The Deal Hoy will be our local for the duration.
I have no hesitation in recommending this pub if you need the real 'local' vibe.
