We have discovered our happy place!! What a find! I had never been to Kent before. We had an beautiful week staying in this lovely establishment. The weather was glorious sun shining, warm with a lovely breeze from the sea...not windy. Deal/Kent is known to have the best weather in England that's why we drove 6 hours to get there as we needed some sun! There was not a drop of rain. Wow what an amazing place to stay. It is so pretty. The flowers that cascade over and around the buildings are beautiful and well tended to. The smell of them wafting into your room from the window boxes is devine. The view from our bedroom was breathtaking you can almost touch the sea!!! We arrived on a Sunday and infront of the buildings is a gorgeous court yard area. There was singers, a bbq it was so full of happy people enjoying the weather, location,( right next to the beach) and friendly atmosphere. At nights its all twinkling with gorgeous lights just stunning. The people are so friendly in Deal I have never been anywhere else like it! Met lots of lovely people within a few hours of arriving! The staff are amazing! Sharon, justin, james, vicky, shirley and graham (the landlord) yo name only a few! They all remembered our names which was lovely. There are plenty of staff on duty so excellent service ( never any dirty tables inside or outsude) and all of them smiling. It's has a good feeling and all the staff have a good repore with the owners Graham and Shirley and James and are respected by their customers...we heard lots of praise this week!!!They were so so welcoming nothing was too much trouble. You were honestly made to feel part of the family. Graham takes great pride in his pub and rightly so! 40 years ago when he bought it it was a mess. He has now turned it into the hub of Deal. It's like it has been contagious as the rest of the town, which had been on the decline, is now a hive of busy shops and restaurants and I get the feeling it started with inspiration from the Kings Head! People come from all over Kent for an evening out at the Kings head. If you are lucky to be there on Sundays book your outside table they are soon snapped up but you always find someone offering to share as were we The food was amazing! Great menu, homemade food and yummy. The Breakfast was delicious proper bacon and thick artisan bread/toast. The inside of the pub has kept its rustic charm which we felt added to the attraction. The price was brilliant. We honestly did not expect this quality. The room was spacious and spotless. Rustic charm in keeping with the age of the building. Beautiful new en suite shower room spotless and cleaned everyday by our maid Vicky who is lovely. She cleaned the room everyday and replaced fresh fluffy white towels each day. We always strip our beds before we leave and the pillows, quilt and matress were spotless not even a tiny mark or stain....all the staff take pride in their work that is obvious. We certainly enjoyed our holiday in Kent. Beautiful places to visit. The beaches around Broadstairs are wonderful and all within 30 mins from Deal. We didnt have enough time to visit everywhere so will be back đ
Thank you Graham and team for a wonderful stay x We will be returning that's for sure and will be bringing friends with us next time. It's worth the 6 hour journey !...
Read moreThis was our first trip to Deal and we booked in here for nights, which we were able to extend to 3 nights, to visit family.||Our welcome from the owner and all his staff could not have been better - professional, friendly, efficient and helpful, without being intrusive. ||The King's Head is a good old traditional hostelry with a long and interesting history, an eclectic collection of pictures and artifacts that celebrate Deal's past, local characters and sporting people and events will some connection to the pub.||The location is perfect, with easy access to lots to see and do in a small town that is clearly on the up. ||It doesn't have parking, but this is clearly stated in the details and there are both short and longer stay car parks within easy walking distance.||Although now mainly an eating place, supported by locals, tourists and business people, it was good to see that it was also somewhere you could just have a drink. ||We ate here on two nights of our stay. The menu was typical of excellent pub grub, with a small specials board each day. We eat out a lot and our experience here could not be faulted. Our order was taken quickly and our food, which was nicely cooked and well presented, arrived much faster than in many restaurant pubs. ||Being lovers of the sea, but living as far from the coast as you could possibly get, we booked a double room with a sea view. The room itself did not disappoint - an adequate size, a view of the Deal Pier and The English Channel and tasteful decoration. ||Were I able to, I would have given The King's Head 4.5, rather than 4. My reasons for dropping a star being that we found the small size of the shower slightly difficult' and as a vegetarian, who will eat fish occasionally, I would have welcomed a couple more vegetarian meal choices.||All in all this is a wonderful place to stay and eat and we will be back later in the year, when we hope to be able to sample the interesting looking menu at your sister pub, The Port Arms, which was closed for part of our stay ||Thank you Graham and your team for helping to make our first visit to Deal...
Read moreBooked a double seafront room for 1 night so we could enjoy a good night out with friends. Parked in a local car park 5 minutes from the hotel as no parking at the pub/hotel, car park was reasonably priced and even got it cleaned whilst we drank in the bar. The pub is situated on the main seafront, just set back a bit from the main road with a fantastic view of the sea and the pier. The pub was very quaint, lots of character and clearly popular. We were greeted by a very friendly bar person who saw that we were attended to within minutes of our arrival. We were shown to our room, given a brief talk re door keys and late night access and then left to unpack our hand luggage. Our room was on the top floor, up two flights of very steep, quite narrow staircases (with handrails) which for less abled persons would be a challenge, so some customers would need to bear this in mind. Ceiling height was low in places but very much in keeping with the building age. Our room was large with two big windows letting in lots of light and of course affording a fantastic view. A very large bed, small seating area, wardrobe and chest of drawers along with a large TV were in the main room which was tastefully decorated and very clean. Tea and coffee facilities which are an absolute must now a-day was set up on the dressing table. Our en-suite had a walk in shower and usual facilities- my one little gripe would be the lime scale around the bottom of the shower door, but nothing that couldnât easily be resolved. Again very clean. We spent the evening locally and ended up in the pub across from our one which is also owned by our pub as they had a fantastic live band on who were really very good. We slept extremely well after our lively evening, very little noise heard from outside and the bed and pillows were very comfy. We didnât take advantage of breakfast on this short break so unable to comment on this occasion. Checkout was very quick, again very polite friendly staff. We highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be going back, Deal was quite lovely and we would love to...
