Where else to grab a sandwich when in Sandwich but The Sandwich shop. We made a special trip here and were sadly disappointed. The bread was pre sliced out of a bag. One sandwich was fine but was made with packet ham so could be better. Nice side salad, coleslaw and dressing on the side. Mine was awful. I chose prawn cocktail. My absolute favourite that I always pick if on a menu so I know what I should be getting as I've had loads of them. Apparently not!.. 1st round had to be returned as bread was a soggy mush underneath. Prawns were tiny, soggy and tasteless. No sauce. The 2nd attempt the bread wasn't soggy but no change to the prawns. I said sorry I can't eat this. She told me to my face just a matter of taste others really like it. I was offered a replacement but declined and was refunded. To be honest I'd gone off food by then and the loud moaning about me coming from the kitchen, that there was nothing wrong with the sandwich and what a waste, they were going to have to make up the money made me just want to run out of there feeling really upset. So I did. Shame...
Read moreAfter travelling to Sandwich for the first time, we had high hopes of having a Sandwich IN sandwich so when we found 'The Sandwich Shop' we were more than excited. However after using the toilet we sat down to order to find there were no vegan options and as there were 3 of us having this dietary requirement realised we wouldn't be able to eat there. We explained this on our departure for the owner to reply 'But you used the toilet though' before walking away... It made the whole experience very uncomfortable considering she didn't try and offer any other option and we were sat down without our coats etc so had every intention of staying, (there was a Costa round the corner we could have used a toilet for!) we soon found a wonderful place that did accommodate us and had we known they would not accommodate vegans we would not have used the toilets! Very rude and sad considering who wouldn't want to eat a Sandwich in the...
Read moreBeing in Sandwich it just had to be done, and where else but The Sandwich Shop? I had the Earl of Sandwich, my partner a cheese and ham. The menu tells you they use locally sourced produce, by which I believe they mean they buy it from local supermarkets or other similar outlets. I expected a beef with horseradish sandwich to be fairly substantial, but it looked like any old butty you could buy in Tesco etc. The tiny bit of accompanying salad did not make up for this, and the cheese and ham sandwich was just plain dull. For over £5 for each I expected more. Sadly very much a...
