The Waiting Room — Restaurant in Dover

I visited The Waiting Room with my family on 4th October and was disappointed by the service we received. A woman ahead of us collected her drinks and kindly said, “We’re not waiting—please go ahead.” Despite this, the staff member behind the counter turned her back and continued working at the coffee machine for several minutes without acknowledging us. We felt unwelcome and left.

I make a point of supporting small businesses, but this experience was disheartening. We went to Ozzie’s Fish and Chip Shop instead, where we were greeted warmly and treated with respect—exactly what any customer should expect.

Interesting, quirky cafe/restaurant decorated in the livery and style of the old East Kent Road Car Company - former bus shelter in fact. Bright, airy, comfortable, nice coffee. Didn't eat as I need gluten free food and none available (maybe crisps?) when I was there. I think they may sometimes have a gf cake on offer. This quintessential little place is a must on a journey into Sandwich. A busy hub selling fresh grounded coffee, which is their own brand, I may add, to small bites and a food menu that really tackles your taste buds. With staff that welcome you with a smile, what isn't there to like about this amazing business? Located opposite the Guildhall, you can literally get off a bus and walk straight in.
