The old famous corn exchange, unfortunately, I do say 'old'. A once great part of the Delph run, a starting point yet just like the pubs of the past it's reputation has long gone along with the standards.
A hungry afternoon brought me and the wife to the pub as we wanted to find a good haunt. Upon entering you get welcomed to a dark and dated atmosphere, which is in need of a makeover. We make our way over to a table by the window to get a vibrant view of the roundabout 😂. The hygiene of the tables could be improved as the menus were sticky and gave off an uninviting odour, usually this can be a telltale sign to get up and go but I was extremely hungry, so I let it slide.
We decided to order a steak fondo as we've had this before in the lutley oak. It took a while for it to come out even though there weren't many people inside the pub. When the food arrived, it was cold 🥶, the chips were cooked and warm but the steak was cold to touch and the cheese was stiff.
The food was sent back and we were given the offer to put the food back on the grill or cooked fresh. Naturally we wanted it fresh, even though it did come back warm, they never put the veg on there but it didn't seem like a meal that was worth £25.
The positive things I can say was this, the staff who dealt with the complaint was very nice and apologetic. It's just a shame that the kitchen staff weren't as hot on the food as there other pub...
Read moreFood was lovely! However when we immediately walked through the door we was told 'we needed to be done in 1 hour and 30 minutes' we had reserved the table prior to coming and even though it was mothers day it was very quiet so we're taken back with the bluntness. Also when ordering food we were told we had to order all at the same time even though we were paying separately as they needed the food to come all together, the server was also rude when doing this. My food (I ordered a chicken Sunday roast) arrived alot later than everyone else's at my table and when chasing it up with the server (this server was polite by the way) she said she would chase it and came back and said it had just gone in. This was already a good 15 to 20 minutes after the rest of my table had been served their meals so we were not served all together as originally stated. Noisy atmosphere also with the table next to us screaming and shouting at the football even though there's a designated bar area to watch sports. Overall lovely food but disappointed with service...
Read moreCame here for my daughter's 18th burthday and despite it not being very busy the meals were not good at all! My peppered mushroom pie consisted of rock hard pastry with some sort of gunky glue not tasting of pepper at all, the bowl containing my daughter's gravy had a chip in it and my daughter and son-in-law's meals arrived 10 minutes after ours (even though they were sat at the same table, which made it uncomfortable for the rest of us eating ours while they had no food!). My son-in-law's chicken wings on his £16 meal were still cold in the middle so he complained to a mamber of bar staff, who took the whole tray to the kitchen leaving him with no food. The tray came back out again 5 minutes later and fresh wings followed 10 minutes after that! Surely it would've been better to leave him with the rest of the tray to be eating whilst waiting for wings?! Have had a meal here before and it was good, but won't be returning...
