Having 2 almost adult children with me me, we drove through to try the new food place in town. Firstly this review is very early in the shops opening week... There are a lot of staff, and I stuspect that will work it's way down. OK, we drove into the drive in, and there's 2 order points, we parked up at one, and nothing, silence... I was just toying with the idea of reversing and trying the other, when the voice appeared. We ordered bacon double burger(no cheese), chicken burger and 5 chicken strip meals. Whilst I would rate the price more than McDonald's and less than BK, when I came to order the drinks I was prepared for the not draft pop hussle... "How much for the milkshake? ". "it's included, you can have any drink, no extra charge"... What no hussle, no 70p more, err what???? The order arrived, we were offered sauce and again... no hussle... All included, the price on the menu is what you pay... Love that. The food was quick, and presented well and no cheese... Exactly what I ordered. McD annoy me for 2 reasons, firstly no cheese is not exactly complicated to get right, and secondly... IMO Only BK seem to have a grip on edible chips/fries everytime... McD fries I often have to force myself to eat, or just abandon them.
The burger was well thought through, good sauce, onion etc. The burger meat was unusual, which is perhaps due to not having the char and seasoning McD and BK have... The chips were waffles ages whilst they could have used a little longer to crisp, they were passable. The chicken was significantly better than McD, more like the legend burger and good quality chicken...mayo and smokey tomato sauce. Chicken strips.. They are what they are, good quality but not much else to them. The coffee was good, balanced flavour with a nice after taste. Lemon refresher was nice but sweet at the end. Food was good and all enjoyed.
The 2 frustrations were genuinely the lack of communication at the start of our visit.. Just a "hi, welcome, we'll be with you in a moment" would suffice. Secondly... Bins.. The only bin I could see was right by the entrance, I had to get out the car access walk across the car park to dispose of the litter. I fear you are asking for trouble if you don't give people the chance to do the right thing.
Great visit, few tweaks and...
Read moreDecided to pop in and try the very new Tim Hortons at Merry Hill (Midlands). Decided on ordering within and not the drive thru' as this was a first time experience. There was a certain entusiasm for trying something New in absence of the much missed 'Frankie & Benny's' site. Taste buds were flowing in anticipation.
A queue had formed to use the limited number of touch screens so, taking advantage, I jumped forward to order at the Counter. You know that 'personal' touch in customer service that is missing or absent in the name of technology or should I state loss of jobs!!
I made my order and went to pay by 'CASH'! I was informed they don't accept cash and the reason being 'COVID'! Why o Why, in this day of the 21st Century, are vulnerable people to be disadvantaged or discrimanted against! Is to be that Tim Hortons deny a certain part of the population access to their Menu and Service? With the economic situation, as it is, I still feel the need to carry 'Cash' (& a few Eggs) in order that should Technology fail I am in a position to LIVE! oh thee to those who put all their Eggs in 1 basket!!!
There is currently a total of £80 billion in circulation in notes ('cash') alone in the UK at the time of this post but, I could not use a single £1 at Tim Horton's.
Next time, if I go, I'm going to barter a couple of those Eggs as that's the original 'cashless' society since they insist on going down that route! Not so long ago you could get an Egg or Bantam off the scrap man!! Who remembers that?
Want to know what I thought about the food - well in trying to emulate a number of of other fast food outlets they come as 'over priced' as the same can be purchased elsewhere for less. It was average! Maybe their spirit is trying to do it all under one roof.
“It is the part of a wise man to keep himself today for tomorrow, and not venture all his eggs in one basket.”
STOP structural discrimination against those who are disadvantaged or vulnerable! Your amassing to defining a Social Protection System for those who have and not those who 'have not'! Those who are not part of Gen Z are still...
Read moreWe have only had donuts and coffee previously, so were very much looking forward to trying some savoury treats. We visited the Merry Hill store on a Saturday lunch time and went for:
🍗 nacho chilli cheese crispy chicken sandwich 🍔nacho chilli cheese double burger 🍟 lattice fries 🥤 cherry crush cooler 🥤 tropical cooler
We did want some Refresher drinks, but where told us they didn’t have the syrup to make them. Whilst waiting for our order we heard another customer being told she couldn’t have the drink she had already ordered, so there seems to have been an issue with stock/drinks.
Our order was up really quickly which was good, but unfortunately the order was incorrect as they’d got one of the burgers wrong.
Everything was cold so it seems that it may have been sat about waiting for customer orders, which explains the speed.
The food was meh 😒
The nacho chilli was very sticky and sweet. - more like a jam than a chilli sauce. The beef burger just tasted of unseasoned beef and not much else. The burgers were both lacking on the cheese sauce and the chicken one had one measly penny sized ring of onion. The waffle fries were really dry - sat under a heat lamp for a while dry. We were grateful to be given an extra sauce as we needed it to add flavour to the burgers and help the waffle fries go down. We left much of it as it was borderline inedible.
The coolers were really good 👍🏽 We loved the both flavours, but cherry in particular 🍒 these would be lovely on a hot summers day.
Unfortunately the bin was overflowing and customers had to start stacking their trays and rubbish on the top. Not a great impression for a store that’s fairly new and was also quiet. It also doesn’t help that it’s next door to McDonalds. If people have a first impressions of Tim Hortons the same as ours, they’ll go back to the classic Golden Arches.
Maybe we caught this store on a bad day 🤷🏽♀️ but we won’t be rushing back...
