GDK Merry Hill is the worst experience I have ever had of any fast food resturant. I have been to the West Bromwich one and the service is amazing. This is a huge blow to the customer experience and the company brand.
There were 7 members of staff on duty with a massive queue. While we waited for us to be serviced, they all stood around, some playing with lighters, while others were having a relaxed natta. There was one person at the till despite having two till there. The one at the till was extremely slow and inexperienced at taking orders. Although he was trying his best, he had to call many times to others in his team for help while they chatted. One of them even left to another vendor to purchase a drink while we waited.
The hygiene was also poor and cringeworthy. When I literally begged them to process my order, the lady that handled my order left my food open and unattended for 30 minutes for no reason. Worse still, the food was left on the serving counter where they had laid the elbows and torsos on while they chatted away. The other with the drink was dripping all over from his mouth which he wipped with gloved hands and reached for food with the same hands. Another held on to an open waffle bread while chatting away for minutes, spitting all over my food. I was disgusted! This is a huge blow to such a fantastic brand!
The total wait time for my order was around 1 hour 30 minutes (2 gym boxes and 2 OG kebabs). My food was served very cold and had to microwave it when I got home, especially to kill the possible germs. It was a nasty dinner. I should have had beans on toast. The date of this horrid experience was 15/09/22.
The team there needs a complete change. I have been there again to have a look and I could still recognise the same team members from my last visit and now with a larger crowd waiting for their orders. This means nothing has changed, it has only gotten worse. I didnt bother to wait to buy anything. I wont be visiting GDK Merry Hill...

Head office is to blame for this silly mistake but then the poor staff get the blame for everything⌠staff could do with more training but again itâs down to head office to sort this rubbish out and the owners of the business. Asked for boss box to only get asked âwould you like that as a meal?â Thought I was buying the Original kebab, obviously that doesnât come as a meal, I kindly said to the lady that was serving us that I wanted a boss box, she then asked me if I wanted it as a meal and points at the original kebab, at this point I was getting a little annoyed, so I calmly said to her I do not want the kebab as a single or a meal, I would like the boss box and had to physically point at the boss box. Anyway thatâs just down to training, not so much if a big deal. However when I thought I seen my order being made I asked if it was mine and the lady replies yes, so I said but I asked for salad and sauce separate, to what the âmanagerâ replied âtell them itâs already madeâ at this point I shouted across the counter and said itâs fine il just have it as it is, as I didnât want to make a big deal, the manager then come over and asks me if I wanted it remade, I said I was fine with it on and that it didnât matter at this point, although I wasnât happy with this kind of service. Anyway I wouldnât recommend GDK absolute waste of money. The food itself is VERY nice when itâs fresh and good portion, but the head office are responsible for advertising so much rubbish but never follow through.    Read moreOrdered an OG kebab with fries.they had no chicken but that was fine by me. I just went for the beef only. Waited 15-20 minutes for my order, my order gets called out I go to collect it only to be told they have âno friesâ whichever way you want to put it, itâs a kebab shop, a kebab shop with no fries!!! I requests full refund. I complained to the manager and explained that having fries is not a problem if thatâs what the situation is but to be told just as Iâm collecting the order is unacceptable. She was apologetic and was trying to make gesture of good will but after waiting for that long for a kebab and to be told there are no fries was a bit of a Micky take. I can only suggest the service at West Brom and kings Heath is a lot better. I wonât be using this joke of a branch again. This was not the first time theyâve made mistakes with my order or provided a substandard service and from a new branch you would expect better really. If I go go to my local chippy I can but a kebab meat and chips for around ÂŁ4 this was going to cost me ÂŁ9.
