Go there often when visiting friends although usually landlady has not been there but the times she has she has been rude to people , anyway travelled 2 hours to bring an elderly friend to what would be a nice pub without her , I was aware dogs must be on leads we went in the pub they were not happy with the dog pram in there but after a 2 hour car drive for a shihtzu I was trying to keep him cool so we went outside and sat under the shelter , we settled to have have our drinks and the dog just found a cool space on the pebbles under an empty table ( which there plenty of ) and the land lady came straight out to us and said dog has to be on a lead , when she realised he was it was then can you not just let your dog lie under a table in the shade I'm going to sit there for a cigarette lol . Point is luv as a land just speak in a nice tone absolutely no need and her attitude was just filth , do one , jog on bla bla Absolutely disgusting and such a shame as all other staff are always lovely so basically this is only dog friendly for their own dogs or their friends but barman rather than keep having your mrs pestering people about their pets and actually mine is better behaved than most guests in there maybe you need to muzzle her on order to stop losing loyal customers . No need for rudeness swerving and pathetic attitude when a poor little dog just wanted 5 mins shade after the 2 hour drive just to go there . And obviously did not stick around to drink them . Will stick with red lion from now on always so...

I have never in my life been confronted by such appalling and vile attitudes in any pub or any bar anywhere in the world.
My advise... if you're not a heavy drinker, give it wide berth.
Two or three years ago I gave this same pub a 5 star review. I have no idea what...
Read moreI used to go here regularly some years ago . Liked the bar area with seating and standing area and the fire. The area down the steps though, I don't think anyone knew what to do with it really, but now with the chrome edged seats and more modern tables, it just isn't appealing. I'm sorry if this offends, and I'm sure many people like it that way, but...
