One Thai Cafe Ware — Restaurant in East Hertfordshire

This is a really lovely place, it’s quaint and welcoming. The staff were lovely and very helpful with my elderly mum too. The food was delicious. There is only 1 reason I can’t give 5 stars: the amount of Tofu you get as a vegan /vegetarian is so so so so small. When you order a curry the meat version comes with lots and lots of meat and lots of vegetables. With our vegetarian curry there were only 3-4 tiny tiny pieces of tofu, very thinly cut. It was probably 1 Tofu puff cut into tiny pieces. We eat a lot of tofu at home and this was nowhere near enough. I think it is really unfair to discriminate against non-meat eaters this way. Tofu is a cheaper product, but there was so much less. There were lots of vegetables, but the meats dishes get lots of vegetables too. So I think the proportions were unfair. Other than that I really loved the place, everything was very authentic. I would very much like to come back, but probably only if the chef address the imbalance in portions given to vegans.

We had a wonderful meal at this cafe yesterday and the food was some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had. I had dishes I’ve never tried before. The way they cook the duck in the stir fry and curry was so soft and melt in your mouth. We started with the ribs and fish cakes (both perfect) but the ribs in particular are the nicest tasting ribs I’ve had anywhere. The cinnamon and star anise flavour, I will have to steal that idea. The red and green curry’s were so tasty. OH said the pad Thai noodles were the best he has ever tasted as they were not too sweet. I would have liked to see a Som tam on the menu as I just adore that spicy salad but the meal was excellent with out it. My favourite dish was the one I’d never had before, called Pad kraprow Talay! Service was just on the slow side but not a problem or so we thought. Had food, mostly ok. Red Thai beef curry had chewy tasteless beef though. Others in our party enjoyed their dishes . Our not so well positioned table due to Uber eat delivery drivers was cleared very promptly after mains were finished. Then with no warning whatsoever we were told we had to go as they needed the table ! Not even asked if we wanted deserts or coffee. Diabolical way to treat customers. Not very organised in my reckoning if you take bookings that close together, this must happen often. They also left a party of 6 out in the rain for about 15/20 mins as the table they had booked wasn’t ready. It’s also cash only, why……? No cash tip from us, no return visits likely. A...
