The food was fine, nothing particularly special but no real complaints, however take this with a pinch of salt as we've been to Japan multiple times, you may enjoy it more. About as good as wagamamas.
The atmosphere was actually nice, well decorated and playing city pop in the background at low volume - surprisingly authentic.
Unfortunately the service needs a lot of work. When we finally left we learned that 2 kitchen staff had not turned up for work which was responsible for all the delays. This, is understandable and it happens, I wouldn't hold it against them. But the way it was handled was not excusable, and the bartender, my god. I've not seen that level of incompetence anywhere in the world.
it took 1h30 to receive our mains from when we ordered, the starters arriving 30mins in. Too long but tolerable if managed correctly. we ordered a bottle of the cheaper sake on the menu, we received a carafe of umeshu and were billed for the most expensive sake, the bartender genuinely had no idea what he was doing we ordered drinks and watched as the bar tender poured the gin into 2 glasses with ice, then spent 15 minutes faffing about making 2 soft drinks while the ice melted, before finally bringing the drinks to the table. Only to have forgotten the sake and tonic for the g&t, which were basically diluted and ruined at that point anyway despite the long wait, despite being incredibly polite and understanding and trying to help the staff. We were at no point until we asked at the end told there would be a wait or why, and offered any kind of compensation of accommodation. It would have been trivial to bring us a plate of chips early, offered an extra round of free drinks. Anything, but no communication at all. we ordered a starter which never arrived, apparently they ran out but we weren't told until after the rest of the starters arrived so had no option to order an alternative.
I can understand long waits and short staffing, but you can't just leave your customers in the dark like that and not make arrangements like bringing small snacks to keep people going. By the time the mains arrived, we'd already digested the starters to the point we barely wanted to eat anymore.
And your bartender...
Read moreVisited Kyoto Louth today for an anniversary meal. When we arrived at 7:30pm, we were met by a very flustered waitress, who acknowledged us, to then walk away. We were then seen by the waiter who showed us to our table after standing at the door to the restaurant for around 5 minutes. Once at the table, we were given our menus, and waited around 15 minutes to place a food and drink order. The drinks arrived around 15 minutes after the order was placed, and we waited a further 45 minutes for our food to arrive, during which time we were told that it was very busy and that the food would be with us shortly. The restaurant was not full, and people who had arrived after us were being served their drinks before we had received ours. When the food arrived, after a very long wait, we found the sushi to be lovely, however the ramen both myself and my partner ordered tasted incredibly salty and as though they had used a stock cube and added water to this. We were left very dissatisfied with the overall experience, customer service and atmosphere. Although staff were verbally apologetic, their manner towards the service provided suggested otherwise. Unfortunately, will not be...
Read moreI’ve been meaning to try this place for a while—lots of friends have given it glowing reviews. But to be honest, I usually get tempted away by other cuisines.
This time, though, a friend was visiting and we were both keen to try somewhere new—so we finally booked!
We were warmly welcomed into a fresh, clean space with a relaxed vibe.
The menu was a bit overwhelming for a sushi newbie like me, but there were plenty of ‘safe’ options for the less adventurous.
We went for one of the sushi sharing platters so we could sample a bit of everything without committing to just one thing.
And honestly, we loved every single piece—which doesn’t help when it comes to choosing next time! So I guess we’ll just have to try the other platter…
Fantastic food: fresh, delicious, and a really wide variety.
We’ll definitely be...
