The older lady serving clearly doesnât like children so donât bother visiting if your children are not robots, both our family and another larger group sitting in were obviously a inconvenience to her and apparently my 16 month old tapping on a high chair at the opposite end of the restaurant was enough for her to tell me to quite him down because she couldnât hear people ordering - she even told another group of 4 children that they couldnât be sat at a table and they needed to leave despite their mum being at the counter ordering food. Had we not got a hungry toddler we would (should ) have left at that point. When the food arrived my husbands fish was freshly cooked, mine clearly wasnât, soggy batter but the fish inside was ok. The only saving grace in that place is the lovely young lady that waitressed at our table, she is efficient and actually has great customer service skills. No doubt after looking at the other reviews I will get a snarky reply from the owner but that says more about how the business is run than it does about the customers reviews.
EDIT IN REPLY TO YOUR PREDICTABLE SNARKY COMMENT!
My 16 month baby never made one murmur no screaming nor shouting! He was just tapping his innocent little hands on a high chair which I did stop once you so kindly guided me on how to become a better parent, yes the other familyâs multiple children made a little a noise as they settled into their seats but soon quietened down once there overdone battered sausages arrived (as was noted by the lovely older lady as she scavenged through their scraps after they left) Also as youâve kindly made me a better parent after my visit, may I also offer you a little wisdom, basic food hygiene is essential in a restaurant so you may want to stop sneaking in chips in when you think nobody is looking or at least wash your hands after doing so. I wish this business all the luck you deserve and suggest in the future you leave parenting to the parents and maybe focus your replies on the soggy frozen battered fish and terrible...
Read moreHighly disappointed. Coming from a traditional chip shop family we are connoisseurs of chippy food. As it is new potato season I was very surprised to see "ordinary " looking chips. Had a sausage with chips for a change. Sausage was just deep fried, no batter! As I was eating my chips a thought kept recurring in my mind but I didn't want to say out loud. Until I couldn't take it any longer. I said to my husband I'm sorry I can't eat anymore the sausage isn't nice, like warm and a funny taste. I said I am sure these a frozen chips just fried. He looked at me and said do you know I was thinking the same. New potatoes are quite distinctive and I'm not always keen , these definitely were not those! These chips had an edge round them like a frozen chip is. They were not light and fluffy on the inside like chips are. I would bet my savings on this fact that they were indeed frozen. I've got back home and not been well all afternoon, sick as a dog. So all in all not a good experience. I Shall add, in response to you reply. I always try to be fair and write a good review, it's not often I post a bad review. Today I felt I should. You should advertise what oil you use, Maybe your temperature gauge didn't work today! Today I'm saying you absolutely DID NOT rumble the potatoes I had!! You certainly do not get big chips from new pots!! The reason we did not come in and any how we felt was because of were we were parked and had to move on . I'm sure you know how busy the place is at the moment with holiday makers. We will come back another time and try again....oh wait no of course you don't want any connoisseurs like us do you! Or any one that dares give a bad review to come back ! Wr always give places another go to be sure it wasn't just an off day or something. After reading the way you respond to people. I actually do not...
Read moreWent rather close to closing time. So bare that in mind with this review. But saying that the service and quality should be the same whatever time you arrive. Firstly the 2 stars and for the food not the staff. The staff would have got 5 as they were pleasant and quick and helpful. But the food was the worst we have had from a chippy before. Like I say we was very close to closing time so this probably explains why the chips were foul. Rock hard and very dark in colour. They were definitely refryed to reheat them. The mushy peas were Rock solid. The cod was a decent size but just not nice. Visited here 3 years ago when it was seawaves and then it was the best fish and chip meal I had ever had anywhere. But sorry to say this time it was the worst fish and chips I've ever had.
Try it in the day time it may be different. I won't be trying it though.
And in answer to any remarks made by management (after reading sarcastic remarks on other comments) we didn't come back as you would of been closed and to be honest it's not worth the hassle trying again. We just found somewhere else that's great.
You have to take bad reviews with the good. Unfortunately for us this time we had a terrible experience.
The place is clean the staff polite. But the food on this occasion really let you down. Better to tell people there is nothing left than re heat chips to sell. Even the sachet of tartare sauce need looking at. Really...
