First time here, won’t be visiting again, and would not recommend to anyone.
So we went into the cafe with my wife and 6 year old daughter, we all wanted different food, and I wanted fish and chips from this place that I know do great fish and chips over the road. No problem I thought, took my wife and daughter into the cafe, they ordered their food and paid for it, sat down to wait while I popped to the chippie over the road, got my food and went back to the cafe to sit with my wife and daughter while they ate their food, but before I could even eat, this grumpy old man came over to say I can’t eat it here, and basically told me to get out infront of my 6 year old daughter, I mean what kind of person does that? Not a normal one that’s for sure, and this was at a very busy time as well, so was abit humiliating for myself being watched whilst getting thrown out for eating fish and chips bought elsewhere.
I was also going to buy a drink whilst my family(paying customers) were eating there, but no not allowed.
He then proceeds to tell me to follow him over to the tables and shows me a tiny little sign about 3 inches squared on the tables saying you’re not allowed to eat food bought from somewhere else, whenever I spoke he kept repeating “take a picture of this for your Google review”. No I won’t take a picture of it because you are completely missing the point you stupid old man, the point is, TWO members of my family were paying customers, one of which was a 6 year old girl, you basically threw her daddy out on the street to eat my fish and chips, ok if I was on my own, absolutely I agree with you, I shouldn’t be doing that, but come on use your common sense and have a heart, no? They were sitting on a table for 4, so it’s not like someone else could have sat there in my place, so I wasn’t taking up valuable seating was I.
I really hope you read this, or at least the manager(unless you are the manager).
Won’t ever go there again, the wife said the food wasn’t great anyway, and my daughter had one mouthful of the jacket potato and said she didn’t like it, so we aren’t missing anything by never going there again.
P.s the fish and chips over the road at “Anchor fish and chips” are top notch, and they didn’t mind my wife and daughter sitting down with me to eat their ice creams, which were bought from somewhere else.
In response to Sheila Bailie, were you actually there? I highly doubt it. My review was EXACTLY what happened, word for word. My wife and daughter were paying customers, fact, the manager wasn’t discreet in the slightest, fact. Peeved because I couldn’t eat my own food? No, did you not read my review properly, you would see why I was “peeved”.
And my wife and daughter ate food there, so we are well within our rights to give our opinion on the food, which wasn’t great, so please don’t come On here saying my review is...
Read moreWe wanted to eat out for breakfast and decided to try this place for the first time. We walked in and the decor was cute and quirky, although wasn't a fan of the plastic seats that you are unable to move. We ordered a jacket potato, a toasted sandwich and a full English. None of us enjoyed the food and it was a bit overpriced for what we got. The quality wasn't good at all. My cheese and ham toasted sandwich had absolutely zero flavour, it was like I was eating plain bread. They must have used the cheapest and mildest cheese, even the ham had no flavour. My sister didn't want black pudding on her breakfast and asked if she could swap it for something else and they told her no, they don't do swaps. Never had this issue in any other food place we've been to, but each place has its own rules, we understood that. We had no spoons with our drinks and when we asked for one, was refused and told people steal their spoons, so they gave us wooden sticks instead. We had a Cappuccino and a Latte and both tasted like it was just water and no milk. There's a little £1 toy machine in the cafe, which 2 out of 3 toys came out broke. The staff gave our money back for these though. Unfortunately, we weren't impressed with this place and wouldn't come here again. It's a shame because it has the potential to be a lot better...
Read moreGenuinely such a nice place, I came bought myself a takeaway steak pie, The portion size was perfect, the gravy was great, the chips were fantastic, The beans could have some more flavour but they tasted good with the gravy, the atmosphere felt really nice, The place was overall good looking, from what I could see it felt very chill, when it comes to steak pies, That steak pie was the second Greatest I've had in the world, The only steak pie that beats that one is a steak pie at the Etihad stadium, But still, Great great great food and atmosphere, Service was also very nice and quick, I just really...
