Having been to Skegness before and ate at this diner we were excited to try breakfast here. Sadly it seems the establishment has gone down hill. I understand its the start of the season but on the contrary, this should mean they are prepared. We were one of three tables that came for breakfast and I wish we hadnt bothered.
Upon seating we discovered bits of food on the floor and a wrapper from smoking tips, which indicated that cleaning had not been done prior to opening (as we ate around 9am). The booth tables are a far distance from the booth seats so you have to lean forward to eat at the table but as we are open-minded we knew we could make it work (and we were hungry ahah). Unfortunately the food was not up to standard, and looking at the reviews from last season it seems to have gone rapidly down hill.
From first sight the breakfast appeared okay… but as we started eating the issues began to arise. we had one extra hashbrown because there wasnt any mushrooms (which we werent informed about so its lucky we like hashbrowns). The bread was barely toasted and the bacon was practically still oinking. The eggs were cremated on the bottom but raw on the top so we couldnt eat the eggs (unless youre okay with eating snot). Not only was the food a huge health and safety issue but there was no toilets available either as they were blocked off with wooden beams (which is illegal for an eating establishment to not provide toilets in the UK). The coffee machine was broken and despite it being 1-2 degrees celcius the front doors were left wide open. When the server asked about our meal, we informed him of our issues and he brushed them off and said “ill tell the chef” as he walked away. Customer service and care is definitely not at the forefront of this place.
Overall, I wouldnt recommend this diner at all (and neither would the owners either as they keep closing around 1-2pm because they have no customers). The food safety and hygiene levels are extremely questionable and the food is not worth the money when you cant eat half of it without risking salmonella. Given the fact they’ve had a whole winter season to prepare I would expect their first custom to be perfect…. Especially as a breakfast is a basic meal to make. 1/5 and we will not be returning… not worth the...
Read moreMy daughter and I popped in looking for a decent bite to eat, it looked reasonably clean and didn't smell like some of the other places nearby. It was very quiet and menu looked ok. We ordered our meals with 2 milk shakes. Nothing dramatic. Meals came out very fast, but no drinks. Waiter/barman/cleaner said the drinks would follow soon. Ploughing through with difficulty eating our meal I noticed a staff member whom I approached to ask about our drinks - eventually she said they're still making them and to sit back down! We finished all that we were willing to finish of our meal and just sat there uncomfortably to see when our drinks might turn up. After what seemed like ages, they turned up, plopped on the table with a scowl from the waiter/person. I suggested to my daughter that we should leave rather than risking anything that may have erroneously been put into our drink. By the way, the sausage’s my daughter had were not great and the mash was really hard and powdery and her description was that it tasted like dough. My fish goujons were more brown than golden, certainly dry and over cooked. Overall it was the worst experience that I can remember ever having in any food...
Read moreOrdered food from here and I have an autistic brother that only eats certain food, chicken nuggets and chips from the children’s menu is the only option so when ordering I asked for 2 kids meals put on one plate so it looks like a adults meal to keep his self-esteem up and not come across as different to any of us eating with him. It arrived on two plates, with no apologies when explained so had to transfer the meals on one plate together in from my brother which is could of been avoided if the staff listened to our request which we explained why but just got laughed at. Then to continue the awful meal, one meal was missing and instead of being apologetic the man brought the reciept which clearly states the meal we are missing and double checked we all got our meals and asked how come we had 10 meals but ordered 11. After a lengthy discussion they gave us the missing meal and the staff member was seen watching my mother eating the meal from a distance acting as if it was our mistake and we were fooling them. Staff members look miserable with no manners. Do...
