One of the better Wetherspoons I've been to, and also one of the better pubs in Skegness. It is located just across the train station, so it's ideal for a dinner or final drink before you're leaving - and it's also superior to The Lumley right across the street. The décor is appealing (all dark wood), eschewing the familiar Spoon colours. ;) Food options (... clubs, etc) are the same as in every other spoon, and there's a healthy selection of real ales at even healthier prices (UKP 1.99 for most, cheapest real ale in the area). Outside seating is provided at the front, but of course the road crossing at the station is rather busy indeed. Second visit: The Red Lion is one of two (Count 'em: 2!) Cask Marque pubs in all of Skegness, which should give you a hint that it is not a real-ale town. There is a not a single really good pub in this place, and - on paper - The Red Lion, which you'll find diagonally across from the train station, should be your best option. And it normally is: It's a Spoon, and the Spoons are normally considered a solid option for real-ale lovers. Not in this case. The pint I had had gone bad, oxidized. That really shouldn't happen: Obviously, the cask had been kept for too long (normally, a cask has to be finished within 3 days, or else you'll run a risk that the beer goes bad). Bummer!

Visited while staying in Skegness. If driving I strongly suggest coming after 6pm as no available car park and you only get 30 minutes on the street but free after 6. Very busy but didn't take long to get served. The only gripe was when I asked the guy, clearing our table from the last guests, where the sauce was and was greeted with a grunt. Asked again and got the same response lol. Went on the hunt to find them and when I did they were mostly all empty. Need restocking! The food arrived and it was hot and lovely. Fried buttermilk burger that was actually cheaper on the main menu than on the Wednesday chicken club menu so check before you buy guys is my advice. Nice family pub in a mega busy town. Would visit again

Food comes out cold. Small portion of chips with steak and nothing else. Steak tasted nice but was stone cold and had hard fat on the side. Burgers are a bit small. Someone had their chicken in their curry raw waited at the side for so long then a server blamed it on the place being busy when it wasn’t even busy. They also don’t like cleaning the pots it be all over the tables and the side of the bar even at the back they were stacked up. It’s only good if you want a cheap cold meal and a chance of it being raw

After reading all the bad reviews I phoned first to make sure that they were serving breakfast, which they were. Strange atmosphere, very flat, no music playing at all, which seemed odd. Staff were not rude, but were not very cheerful. Breakfast was not very hot, but when I asked for it to be put in the microwave to heat it up there was no problem. The pub was quite nice with lots of interesting historical pictures and information.
