Will never return, problem with an afternoon tea voucher, which had been purchased as a birthday present. Have previously used these without a problem and have merely presented the gift card and this accepted as proof of purchase. Somewhere along the line, they have changed the system and you now need to take the till receipt with the price on and a barcode with it. When pointed out that this wasn't explained when purchasing this voucher, they looked at us and quite patronisingly stated that it would have been stapled to your gift voucher. My friend and I pointed out that there were no staple marks on the voucher !!! They looked blankly at each other and then repeated that needed the till receipt to make sure we weren't trying to use it twice. How can it be used twice when they have always kept the gift card when it has been used??? There is no possibility of us having pinched one as they are not kept on the counter. Both of these points were put to them with just the same blank looks given to each other. They called the so called Manager who asked if I had any bank records as proof of purchase. After much searching on my phone due to poor internet connection I was able to luckily find the transaction otherwise would have had to pay again. The two girls then didn't know how to bring the transaction up on the till and kept blaming each other and all this was going on while the manager decided to sit down and have a coffee/business meeting in the cafe right in front of us. And after they had taken nearly an hour to sort it, with my friend and I having no idea or explanation as to what was going on, I had to ask if it had all been sorted. There was no apology for taking so long and we were made to feel as though they had done us a favour. Poor customer service and very rude. I can understand that they have to make checks as they have a business to run, but this was a problem of their own making and very poorly handled and it ruined...
Read moreI finally persuaded my husband to try lowercase today Wed 6th What on earth happened . 2 tables encluding ours said never again . I am on a diet great Tuna baked pototoe ,before this they bought wrong order Why would you have a small bowl of tiny whole pototes , suppose it was a kind of potatoe salad with a baked potatoe , a coleslaw was £2.50 extra . Of which I didnt order due to the fact of price . The skin which I usually love , I could have broke a window with the outside skin was oiled looked attractive but why ? Next table the lady had the same problem with her baked potato and left it she didnt attempt to peel it off . We didnt complain as they were occupied with the table in front The lady was bought wrong meal and waited 40 mins for a replacement , while her mother ate hers except for a pastry roll of some kind which wasnt cooked . This is why we did not complain they were busy and occupied giving money back for one meal . I have been here a few times for coffee and scone and was so disappointed after persuading my...
Read moreWe’ve been coming here for sometime over the years. However the last 4/5 trips we’ve really noticed it is going down hill. With the food and service. We went earlier this week and I will not be returning after our last trip. Each time we’ve been recently there’s always part of your order missing, we never get the right amount of cutlery. Service with a smile no longer exists. This trip our tray was thrown on the table and we were told to serve ourselves. As they didn’t have enough staff on to cover the shift. My Elderly Grandma wanted to use the disabled bathroom. They were just about to mop it and asked could she use it before they started. This was 35 minutes before they closed. The lady she spoke to went up to the counter to another member clearly frustrated by this and grizzled that they just wanted to get on and get out of there. Extremely unprofessional towards someone disabled. I think they now just rest on the fact there’s not many cafes in Burton now and is no longer the friendly independent place...
